11 Greater Manchester beauty spots that are even prettier now it's autumn

Nature is beautiful all year round, but experiencing it during the autumn months is simply spectacular.

Despite being predominantly urban area, Greater Manchester is home to a large number of picturesque and breathtaking green spaces just asking to be enjoyed.

Whether you want to take a stroll out in the crisp air or capture the ever-changing colours of nature in a photograph, there's some gorgeous understated places in the region.

From country parks to woods and dells, there's some serious autumn inspiration to be found, right on your doorstep.

Take a look at some of the stunning spots in an around Manchester you must visit this season.

Alexandra Park, Oldham

Victorian Town Park covering 23 acres with  free tennis courts, boating lake, large woodland and a children's play area.

John Leigh Park, Altrincham

Urban park spread over 14 acres of sloping parkland surrounded by a residential area overlooking Broadheath and surrounding area.  With four tennis courts, a bowling green, trim trail and a pets corner.

Reddish Vale, Stockport

This country park spans a massive 161 hectares along the River Tame in the heart of Stockport.  There's long walks, cycle paths and bridleways all jam packed with amazing wildlife.

 

Longford Park, Stretford

Covering 22 acres, it's the largest municipal park in Trafford. It's got its own athletics stadium, tennis courts, basketball courts, a pets corner, bowling greens, junior and senior play area a climbing boulder. There's also a good sized football pitch and several gorgeous gardens to explore.

Chorlton Water Park

This former farmland turned nature reserve comprises of a lake surrounded by grasslands and woodlands. There's fishing in a gravel pit, a pond-dipping platform, a play area and plenty of green space to enjoy.

Bramhall Park, Stockport

This 26 acre park of woodland and trails is sits in the grounds of Bramall Hall, a 14th century timber framed historical house.  The space is a mix of landscaped Victorian romantic-style gardens and wooded areas with ample trees and wildlife and a number of large ponds.

 

Debdale Park, Gorton

At around 45 acres, Debdale is one of the largest inner city parks in Manchester.

There's a bowling green, a children's play area, multi use games area, skate park, tennis courts, football pitch and two large reservoirs.

 

Hardy Wood, Denton

This wood runs alongside the River Tame and has easy to navigate footpaths perfect for exploring. You can walk further by following the River towards Haughton Dale Nature reserve.

Heaton Park

At a massive 600 acres, Heaton Park is the biggest park in Manchester and the largest municipal park in Europe. It has a Grade I listed, 18th-century country house called Heaton Hall, playgrounds and a farm.

Stormy Point, Alderley Edge

The walk to Stormy Point itself is an amazing route through the autumn woodland, but once you get there, you're treated to panoramic views from an amazing vantage point.

Healy Dell, Rochdale

This gorgeous beauty spot and wildlife sanctuary is rich in industrial archaeology - the remnants of which are still present today among the ample greenery. The best views come from a disused 1800s railway line which is now a nature trail offering an amazing vantage point from a 100-foot high viaduct.
