General Election 2024

Voters across Greater Manchester's constituencies will go to the polls to elect their MPs to the House of Commons at the General Election on July 4, 2024. The General Election typically takes place every four to five years with the last in December 2019. Conservative Prime Minister made the announcement on 22 May. December 17 was the latest possible date by law for proceedings in Westminster to finish, ahead of the country going to the polls. So if an election hadn't been called by then, a vote would have been triggered to take place on January 28. Early polls suggest the Tories are on course to lose the next election, with Labour retaining a double-digit lead.
