A popular food festival specialising in Eastern European delights will return to the city centre this month. The Pierogi Festival, hosted by Polish restaurant Platzki, will take place at the Great Northern Warehouse, near Deansgate, next Wednesday to Friday (June 12 to 14), featuring a massive variety of different filled dumplings to choose from.

The boiled dumplings, which can range from sweet to savoury, are a traditional Polish dish and will often be served at market stalls found on Ulica Piwna, also known as Piwna Street, in Gdańsk, or John Paul II Avenue in Warsaw.

As part of the annual celebration, Greater Manchester will be the place for pierogies as Platzki serves up fresh batches to eat in their restaurant or takeaway for later. Amongst the flavours available to order, there will be beef and roasted tomato or roasted pork, sauerkraut and wild mushroom options.

There will also be a range of vegetarian and vegan options available to order too. Platzki started life in 2018 with the restaurant known for serving up traditional Polish delicacies with a modern twist to them.

Anna Kwadrans, co-owner of Platzki at Great Northern Warehouse, told the Manchester Evening News: “Pierogi Festival is a highlight of the yearly calendar at Platzki.

“We’ve been running this event since 2021 and every year we see even more customers popping in for our polish dumplings. It has become a Platzki staple. My personal favourite is the pork pierogi but each flavour is delicious.”

The festival will run across the three days from 1pm until 10pm. There is no need to book a table at Platzki to enjoy the event, just turn up and make an order.

Platzki is at Great Northern Warehouse, 229 Deansgate, Manchester M3 4EN. The Pierogi Festival takes place June 12-14 from 1pm to 10pm.
