Manchester United could miss out on signing FC Copenhagen forward Roony Bardghji if Erik ten Hag leaves the club in the summer.

MEN Sport understands Ten Hag's future is in jeopardy with new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe unsure about whether the Dutchman is the right man to take the club forward. INEOS' founder has set Ten Hag the goals of qualifying for next season's Champions League and winning the FA Cup.

Champions League qualification looks unlikely at the moment as United sit 11 points off the top four. Fifth may be enough to qualify too, but they are still six points behind Tottenham Hotspur who have a game in hand.

One of the players who was part of United's premature exit from this season's Champions League was Bardghji. The 18-year-old Swede scored his only goal of this year's competition against the Reds as the Danish club were victorious 4-3.

Bardghji has 11 goals to his name this campaign and is expected to be one of the big talents in world football in the coming years ahead. However, in an interview with Danish magazine Tipsbladet, journalist Gianluca Di Marzio believes the Reds' interest in the teenager could end if Ten Hag leaves the club.

"Every top club wants him because he is a starlet. He is very talented," he explained.

"I think Spanish clubs will try to get him, and I think Barcelona will really try to get him, also because they didn´t get Lucas Bergvall. So they will probably try to get him instead.

"He is a Barcelona style of player. It depends on the coaches and we will have to wait to see who will manage Barcelona, Liverpool and Bayern Munich because, in a logical world of football, the coach is a part of deciding which players to sign.

"I can say that they really like him but it's difficult to say if they will get him. But I know that Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester City really like him as a player.

"Manchester United as well, but we will have to see if Erik ten Hag stays at Manchester United." Whoever is manager at Old Trafford next season will have an eye on wingers in the summer with the likes of Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood expected to leave the club permanently.
