Manchester United defender Teden Mengi is set to leave the club on loan before the end of the summer window.

Mengi, 21, is attracting interest from domestic clubs and European sides and the Manchester Evening News understands the player is currently considering his options before making a decision on where he'll play next.

The academy graduate was set to leave on loan in the January transfer window, but he sustained an injury against Real Betis as part of the warm-weather training camp in December and that scuppered his exit in the winter.

Mengi returned to first-team training at Carrington in March as he looked to complete his rehabilitation and he's now fully fit.

The centre-back captained the Under-21s in matches against Tottenham and Leicester at the end of last season and he wore the armband against Gainsborough Trinity alongside academy youngsters in a friendly on Saturday afternoon.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer handed Mengi his senior debut against LASK in the Europa League in August 2020 and he's since had loan spells in the Championship with Derby County and Birmingham.

Mengi is contracted at United until the summer of 2024 and the club have the option of another year.
