The new installment of the popular Amazon Original series will once again be based on the New York Times’ column of the same name that explores relationships, love, connections, betrayals and revelations.

Kit Harington, Anna Paquin and Tobias Menzies are among the stars appearing in season two, which features eight new, unconnected stories dealing with all the different kinds of love and relationships, from romantic to sexual to platonic.

Viewers can expect to see the rekindling of old relationships, new bonds formed in unexpected places, explorations of sexuality and identity and even a Covid-19 inspired love story.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Modern Love season two cast, including where you might have seen the stars before.

Who is in the Modern Love season 2 cast?

The award-winning season one of Modern Love featured appearances from a wide array of famous faces including Anne Hathaway, Dev Patel and Tina Fey.

With eight new stories from all over the world, a brand new ensemble cast has joined the show for the second season, including big-name stars from The Crown, Game of Thrones and The Politician.

Here are all the cast members confirmed for Modern Love season two.

Kit Harington

Kit Harington will star in a coronavirus-themed episode which sees his character find potential love on a cross-country train ride in Ireland, only to have it ripped away by Covid-19 restrictions.

Harington is best-known for his role as Jon Snow in Game of Thrones, but he has also appeared in a wide range of TV and film roles, including Testament of Youth, Zog and the How to Train Your Dragon franchise.

His next major project to hit the big screen will be Marvel’s Eternals, where he will star alongside Angelina Jolie, Gemma Chan and his former Game of Thrones co-star Richard Madden.

Lucy Boynton

British-American actress Lucy Boynton will play the flirty stranger Harington’s character connects with on a train.

Instead of exchanging numbers or social media profiles, the pair decide to go old school, arranging to meet again on the same train in two weeks time. But when the pandemic makes this impossible, they’re left trying to work out how to find each other again.

Boynton’s professional debut came when she played a young Beatrix Potter in 2006’s Miss Potter. Since then, she has gone on to appear in a number of high-profile projects, including Bohemian Rhapsody, Netflix series The Politician and Murder on the Orient Express.

Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin boasts an impressive career, with her big break coming when she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress aged 11 for her role in 1983’s romantic drama film The Piano.

Since then, she has starred in prominent roles including as mutant superhero Rogue in the X-Men franchise and Peggy Sheeran in The Irishman.

Paquin also played Mackenzie Siler in the 1999 film She’s All That, which is set to get a gender-swapped Netflix remake starring TikTok star Addison Rae later this month.

When it comes to her role in Modern Love season two, Paquin’s episode will see her star alongside Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy). The pair play two people who bond over the discovery that their respective partners are having an affair with each other.

Tobias Menzies

One of the stories explored in season two is about a divorced couple who rediscover their passion for each other.

English stage, television and film actor Tobias Menzies takes the lead in this episode, alongside co-star Sophie Okonedo.

Menzies will be a familiar face to many, thanks to his roles as Frank and Jonathan “Black Jack” Randall in Outlander, Edmure Tully in Game of Thrones, Prince Phillip in seasons three and four of The Crown and Geoffrey Dromgoole in miniseries The Night Manager, opposite Loki’s Tom Hiddleston.

Sophie Okonedo

Joining Menzies is Sophie Okonedo CBE, an English actress and narrator who began her film career in coming-of-age drama Young Soul Rebels in 1991.

The multi-award winning actress has starred in Hotel Rwanda, Wild Rose and After Earth, and will play Salome Otterbourne in the upcoming mystery thriller film Death on the Nile alongside Gal Gadot, Jennifer Saunders and Tom Bateman.

In Modern Love season two, Driver stars in a heartbreaking episode entitled “On a Serpentine Road, With the Top Down” about a woman who has lost the love of her life.
