Paddy McGuinness has shared a video with fans after he felt forced to address a recurring question he's been receiving. Those regularly tuning into shows on the small screen may have heard the Bolton-born star's voice in an advert.

Paddy's Boltonian tones are currently being heard as part of On the Beach's latest campaign. The 50-year-old has been receiving complaints after teaming up with the package holiday experts for their new advert which first aired on Christmas Day.

The former Top Gear host's voice can be heard throughout the 30 second advertisement, where he explains the perks that are being offered by the company as well as branding the family featured in the ad as "booking geniuses".

However, listeners have misheard the word booking for a swear word and it appears Paddy has been bearing the brunt of his accent blunder. He told his two million followers in a video shared to Instagram: "Quick one, a lot of people have been getting in touch on social media, saying they’ve seen my adverts with On the Beach. Are you swearing?"

He continued: "Just to clear this up, it’s booking geniuses, not ‘f-ing’ geniuses, as in book with on the Beach and you get free lounge access and all the perks, that’s the whole idea, not ‘f-ing’ geniuses." He then concluded clearly: "Booking geniuses, not the other one, now book off and enjoy your Sunday."

And his fans and followers were quick to respond. @russbasstrom laughed: "My lad keeps saying the rude version! He’s adamant that’s what you say." @jodieb80 said: "Omg!! Every time I hear it I double take!!" @vic20672 commented: "It is well dodgy I nearly spat my tea tea out thinking no way can he say that but they knew."

@nicolajackson89 wrote: "Certainly got people talking lol! Love it!" @dacasa4eva joked: "Thanks for clearing that up paddy, but you knew what you were booking doing." @mel_moody added: "None of us hear booking geniuses."

Chief customer officer for On the Beach also clarified in a message to the Express: "It seems our advert has once again caused a little bit of stir amongst listeners. To echo our chief holiday ambassador Paddy McGuinness, he is saying ‘booking’ and not the other word, as Paddy said, you can’t swear on TV!"
