A man has suffered potentially life-changing injuries after a horror motorbike crash in Tameside. It happened on Manchester Road in Droylsden shortly before 3pm on Thursday (May 9).

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said the bike and a white Q50 Sports Infiniti which were both travelling on the westbound (Manchester and Clayton-bound) side of the road were involved in a collision near the Edge Lane tram stop.

The driver of the car remained at the scene but the bike riders did not stop they said. The force said that initial enquiries had established that there were two people on the bike who are both believed to have suffered serious injuries 'as a result of the collision and subsequent flames.

Whilst there was no pursuit, the incident has been referred to the force's Professional Standards Directorate who are now reviewing it. Officers are now appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information or footage that may help their enquiries to come forward.

"If you witnessed this incident or saw someone possibly without lower clothing running nearby around the time of this collision, you may have crucial evidence to support our investigation" a GMP statement issued this afternoon (Sunday, May 12) said.

"Officers are additionally keen to speak to anyone who may have any footage, including dashcam, CCTV, or mobile phone footage from the area in the moments leading up to the collision" they continued
