A man has been charged after homeless man was allegedly attacked in Piccadilly Gardens.

Police said 'two vulnerable people were targeted' in the area in Manchester city centre in two alleged robberies. Officers arrested a man as part of Operation Vulcan.

Simon Quest, of Maine Road, Manchester, has since been charged in connection with the reported incidents. The 37-year-old has been charged with two counts of robbery and possession of class A drugs.

He is due to appear at Minshull Street Crown Court on July 17, Greater Manchester Police said. Detective Sergeant Matt Donnelly from Operation Vulcan said: "As we continue with our work in Piccadilly Gardens, I hope this charge demonstrates our commitment to tackling reports of crime and ensuring the area remains safe for visitors.
