A high school in Salford has asked pupils to wear masks again amid rising Covid cases.

Since schools reopened in September, children and staff have not had to wear masks after restrictions were eased over the summer.

But now, with rates rising among the secondary age group, measures are being reintroduced in some areas of Greater Manchester.

The Co-op Academy Swinton has told pupils that from Monday, September 27, all students and staff will need to wear masks in communal areas,.

Those in Years 8 and 11 will also need to wear them in class.

"They have also recommended that students in Years 8 and 11 wear masks in the classroom.

"This is a temporary measure in response to the number of cases in school currently."
