Pro-Palestine protesters have targeted the offices of a bank in Manchester city centre again.

The One building in Piccadilly Gardens, home to the Bank of New York (BNY) Mellon, has been targeted multiple times by members of the Palestine Action group in recent months. Campaigners say the bank invests in Elbit Systems, Israel's biggest weapons firm.

Yesterday morning (April 15), protesters covered the front of the building in red paint and appeared to smash the glass front windows. They also graffitied the words 'CHILD KILLERS' and 'DROP ELBIT' onto the windows of the offices.

Palestine Action shared pictures of the damage on X, formerly known as Twitter. The group wrote: "BREAKING: Palestine Action target BNY Mellon’s Manchester office, to coincide with the ‘global economic blockade for a Free Palestine’.

"The bank invests in Israel’s largest weapons firm, Elbit Systems — making them complicit in the Gaza genocide."

Police said an investigation had been launched following reports of criminal damage. A crime scene investigation van was pictured on the scene yesterday.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "GMP are investigating reports of criminal damage at a premises in Piccadilly Gardens, Manchester. Officers have attended the scene and enquiries are ongoing."

Last month, nine people were arrested after protesters targeted the same building. They chained themselves to the entrance and exit machines of the car park and covered the front of the building with red paint.
