A fire broke out in a building above Burger King in Manchester city centre this morning.
The blaze broke out a number of floors up from the fast-food restaurant in Piccadilly Gardens. Firefighters, police and paramedics were on the scene, with a cordon in place around the area.
Pictures showed smoke billowing from a window near the top of the building. A ladder and hoses were being used to extinguish the flames.

A spokesperson for the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "Shortly after 11am today (Friday, March 1) five fire engines from Manchester Central, Moss Side, Salford, Blackley, and Broughton fire stations were called to reports of a fire involving a commercial building on Market Street, Manchester.

Police have set up cordon and are 'managing crowd'
A GMP spokesperson confirmed officers have set up a cordon.
They are managing the crowd in Piccadilly Gardens.
Seven fire engines now on the scene
A spokesperson for GMFRS said seven fire engines are now on the scene - with two joining from Gorton.
Multiple police vehicles on the scene
A number of police vehicles are also on the scene within the cordon.

Fire service: Five fire engines responding to blaze in 'commercial building'
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said:
“Shortly after 11am today (Friday February 1) five fire engines from Manchester Central, Moss Side, Salford, Blackley, and Broughton fire stations were called to reports of a fire involving a commercial building on Market Street, Manchester.
"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are using two hose reels and a jet to tackle the fire. Crews remain in attendance.”
