A 'despicable' rapist spiked his victims with what he called 'magic'. Steven Evans, 33, attacked three women a total of 25 times. He raped two of them a combined 15 times.

Evans filmed and took photos of many of his sick attacks, which left his victims with 'horrific' injuries. He has now been jailed for 24 years.

Police first began investigating in December last year after a woman reported she had found numerous images of Evans sexually assaulting her.

She said he had no recollection of the incidents. Greater Manchester Police said she reported incidents in which she had woken up with pain in intimate places. She said Evans had raped her while she was awake.

Officers spoke to a second woman who said she had also found 'disturbing' images she couldn't remember being taken. She said she had been raped, sexually assaulted and believed she had been spiked.

Two more victims were identified as having been spiked by Evans. One was sexually assaulted. The substance or substances he used have not been disclosed, but the detective who led the investigation said he referred to it as 'magic'.

Evans was sentenced at Manchester's Minshull Street Crown Court

GMP said they uncovered 25 separate 'non-consensual sexual encounters.' When he was arrested in March this year, officers found internet searches on Evans' devices for 'define sexomnia'; 'what conditions make you sleep'; and 'what diseases make you sleep'.

Evans, of Alton Square, Openshaw, east Manchester, denied 37 offences - including 15 counts of rape; 18 counts of sexual assault; two counts of using a stupefying drug with intent to commit an indictable offence; and two counts of administering a noxious substance. Following a trial, was convicted.

At Minshull Street Crown Court, Evans he was handed a 24 year sentence with an extended eight-year license period. An indefinite restraining order was also made banning him from contacting the victims. He will be on the sex offender register for life.

Following his sentencing, Wakkas Javed, senior Crown prosecutor for CPS North West's Rape and Serious Sexual Offence Unit, said: "Evans has shown no remorse for what he put the victims through."

Detective Sergeant Natasha Feerick of GMP’s North Manchester CID added: "I would like to thank all four victims for their bravery and their continued support throughout our investigations. This has no doubt been an extremely difficult time for them, and I know the impact of these heinous crimes has been grave.

"The victims told the court of the fear Evans made them feel and the horror when they discovered Evans had filmed such horrific events for his own gratification.

"Evans knowingly spiked his victims with what he called ‘magic’ and preyed upon their vulnerabilities when spiked. He injured them and left them with damage to their bodies in horrific ways. His lack of remorse for the victims and their welfare is despicable.

"From the initial report, the investigation team worked around the clock, to gather insurmountable evidence against him. Securing Evans' conviction was a top priority for our team, to protect our communities and bring some form of justice to all Evans’ victims.

"Evans is a dangerous individual who fully deserves the sentence imposed on him. I truly hope this sentence brings all four victims some form of closure and can rebuild their lives in the knowledge he has been removed from Greater Manchester’s streets.

"I hope this case demonstrates the seriousness with which Greater Manchester Police deal with reports of rape, sexual assault, and spiking. We will believe you; we will support you and we will do everything we can to bring offenders to justice.”
