The 42 booming businesses in Greater Manchester that are 'inspiring Britain'

Booming businesses from across the region have been recognised as 'inspiring Britain'.

In a report by the London Stock Exchange Group 42 Greater Manchester firms make an appearance, re-affirming the city's reputation as one of the most entrepreneurial outside London.

These include top online fashion retailer Missguided with its glitzy Salford Quays headquarters , debt purchaser and manager Arrow Global and building contractor FK Group .

The '1000 Companies to Inspire Britain report' identifies the fastest-growing and most dynamic SMEs across the UK.

Data shows companies growing at 70% per year, up from 50% last year and north west companies are one of the fastest growing with 77% annual average revenue growth.

Companies operating in engineering and construction, financial services and marketing and advertising are all growing at an average of more than 90% per year.

To identify the 1,000 companies, financial technology company DueDil combined key financial performance indicators and sector benchmarks.

These included: company status, size and age, financial performance, growth rate.
