Another fantastic Amazon Fast Forward event in Barcelona this year! The emphasis on innovation and collaboration highlighted our joint endeavor to shape the future of transportation. We're announcing our largest reduction in plastic packaging to date in North America, working toward full removal by the end of the year! This will avoid nearly 15 billion plastic air pillows annually and is another step in our path to further sustainability across our operations. Learn more below or at https://lnkd.in/gwMRNeQC! 📦💚🚚
Today Amazon announced that they have successfully replaced 95% of plastic air pillows from their delivery packaging in North America with paper filler. That’s the equivalent of 15 billion air pillows annually, making it the largest reduction in plastic packaging in North America to date. They are working toward full removal by the end of the year. Not only have they moved away from the plastic packaging, they have worked directly with suppliers to source protective paper filler made from 100% recycled content. That means you can open a package, trust your items aren't damaged, and then easily recycle those packages at home. This coincides with Amazon’s work to ship items without any additional packaging as well as other sustainability initiatives such as electrifying their delivery fleet and investing in renewable and carbon-free energy. Learning how to navigate obstacles safely! Get an inside look into how NA delivery drivers practice and prepare for slips, trips, and falls:
This slip simulator makes you feel super goofy, but it's really effective in increasing delivery driver safety. 🚚 📦 In fact, it reduces delivery driver slips and falls by 30%, and drivers consistently rank it as one of the most fun parts of their safety training. It's a kinetic learning module, AKA learn by doing, for drivers to learn how to safely walk on slippery surfaces. Our teams are rolling it out to delivery stations across North America ahead of Peak. What do you think? ⬇
