Today Amazon announced that they have successfully replaced 95% of plastic air pillows from their delivery packaging in North America with paper filler. That’s the equivalent of 15 billion air pillows annually, making it the largest reduction in plastic packaging in North America to date. They are working toward full removal by the end of the year. Not only have they moved away from the plastic packaging, they have worked directly with suppliers to source protective paper filler made from 100% recycled content. That means you can open a package, trust your items aren't damaged, and then easily recycle those packages at home. This coincides with Amazon’s work to ship items without any additional packaging as well as other sustainability initiatives such as electrifying their delivery fleet and investing in renewable and carbon-free energy. A big step in the right direction. Amazing work!
