Use the #NegoDesign Tool by University College Dublin: digital negotiation in reimagining the urban space by providing voice and collaboration for the community and stakeholders. 🪐 Ii is a digital open-source negotiation tool based on Geodesign and Serious Gaming. It engages communities and local authorities in co-creating design solutions for spatial decision-making with conflicting perspectives. Currently deployed in three pilot sites: Elefsina, Milan, and Ballina HeritACT pilots. The tool contributes to quality education, sustainable urban planning, and climate action. HeritACT expected impacts: enhanced stakeholder engagement, more effective negotiations, and bridging traditional and gamified approaches for inclusive community involvement. 🌍 Exciting developments in #Elefsina! HeritACT’s first three months have unveiled the community's vision for the city’s future. Locals envision a green, clean, and culturally rich environment. Engaging 68 residents through questionnaires, bodystorming sessions, and thematic walks, the project explores the significance of cultural heritage and repurposing industrial sites. Despite challenges like air pollution and limited influence on public space, the collective imagination is shaping a sustainable and inclusive future. 🛹 Discover the sustainable marvel of ARKOPOLIS, a beacon of creativity and community in Eleusis, Greece. In February 2023, the 🇧🇪 Belgian collective Timecircus completed a remarkable 3,000-kilometre pilgrimage on foot, crossing the continent to reach Eleusis. This incredible journey was a symbolic gesture, offering encouragement and strength to all European citizens and marking the Opening Ceremony of the 🇬🇷 2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture. Upon their arrival, Timecircus began the construction of 🪵 ARKOPOLIS with the help of local youth group Cultterra and supported by the Onassis Foundation. This cultural and recreational space, which includes the region’s only skatepark, has become a 🙋central hub of creativity and community. ARKOPOLIS is a testament to sustainable practices, featuring the wooden arch of the ARK initially crafted in Belgium and reassembled in Eleusis with minimal modifications. This dedication to sustainability underscores the project's commitment to preserving the 🌱 environment while inspiring cultural growth. Today, ARKOPOLIS is a vibrant, inclusive space open to everyone. Highlighted as one of the applicant projects for the 🇪🇺 2024 NEB Prizes, it proves that culture can be a vital part of every community. #NewEuropeanBauhaus #DesignForAll #LeadTheChange 📷 © Eleusis, 2024. Another significant milestone for our #community around #inclusion, #sustainability and #beauty! Last week, the Italian partners of HeritACT Horizon Project —Comune di Milano, LAND, Stefano Boeri Architetti, THINGS, with the participation of Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia— organised a joint workshop between the 2 cascine #cascinet_agrohub #apicolturaveca #fattoriadidatticaapepe, building upon the stories, challenges and opportunities collected during the interviews and walks held in Spring 2024. ‘How would you imagine the cascine in 2030?’ is the question that guided the activity to start collectively envisioning the future of the sites. Both cascine had the opportunity to reflect and exchange on their unique characteristics while pinpointing what they have in common and building ground for synergy and collaboration. The workshop has also been the occasion to focus on the solutions, not only as architectural interventions, but also from a narrative perspective by introducing the participants to their environmental, social and cultural benefits. This attention on diverse benefits aims to foster a comprehensive understanding of their impact in terms of beauty, inclusion and sustainability (the three New European Bauhaus principles) and their contribution in reaching the goals for sustainable development of the UN Agenda 2030 (the so-called SDGs).

#HeritACT | an important beginning 🌻 3 months of actions: 55 educators, 68 filled questionnaires, 2 bodystorming sessions, 3 new crowdsourcing entries, 25 points emotionally placed on the city’s map (ParticiMap), 2 events at the HeritHUB. The first 3 months of the HeritHUB activity in Elefsina unfold the essence of the project. Through innovative digital tools and participatory workshops, HeritACT reveals its own dynamics. That is, the formation of a network of people and entities that support the project through active engagement, willing to pass on new knowledge to more people. The #Elefsina team presents the specially designed participatory tools, tailor made by the scientific team, to the educational community. The educators in turn will pass the baton to the students in the next phase. Thus, the idea of HeritACT and the principles of the New European Bauhaus will be passed from the children to every household. The essence of HeritACT lies in the way in which participation spreads across communities, the familiarisation with the project's tools, and the care with which the insights are passed from one person to the other.

Last week, our colleagues from Comune di Milano took part in the #tnocfestival 2024 showcasing Heritact and exchanging with peers on how #co-creation, #digitaltechnology, #architecture, #NBS and #culture contribute to #sustainable, #inclusive and #beautiful cities. The festival acts as a multidisciplinary platform where #artists, #scientists, #urbanplanners and #changemakers meet and share. 🎇

Thank you #TNOCFESTIVAL2024 for this wonderful edition and Atelier Gardens for hosting us in this gorgeous location! This year's theme 'the distance between dream and reality is action' set the premises for insightful and motivational exchanges and activities. Here are some actionable take aways I am bringing home: 💡 Build new #narratives and create engaging #experiences through artistic and cultural initiatives as per the sample session on mystery solving hosted by Ania Upstill and as introduced by Tim Edler during the Flussbad Berlin e.V. site visit 💡 Co-create #NBS and co-design their governance at local level for and with the #community as a social, cultural and environmental practice refering to all the inspiring examples shared in the plenary sessions 💡 Navigate complexity and interconnections through #systemsmapping thanks to the workshop hosted by Si Cities Hub 💡 Explore the urban nature futures framework to integrate the social, cultural and intrinsic value of nature as explained by Thomas Elmqvist 💡 Enhance and co-design multifunctional urban (green) spaces that mirror the variety of perspectives present in our cities and answer to effective and current needs as mentioned during the session on 'localizing global frameworks to boost biodiversity and community engagement' All in all, shaping #beautiful, #sustainable and #inclusive cities is about #culturalshift towards new ways of working and living.
