According to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s Berkeley Lab, communities within 20 miles of operational wind projects see an increase in employment rates and income. LBNL recently released a study investigating how wind energy development positively impacts employment for black workers, men, and a range of skilled workers, as well as increases wage rates in the surrounding communities. This is good news for the equity impacts of wind energy! ✨ Interested in learning more? Click here to read LBNL’s findings: https://lnkd.in/e6xjPgmY #CleanEnergyFuture #AmericanJobs #WindEnergy

BIG SOLAR NEWS – Learn about the newest solar resources and updates from U.S. Department of Energy (DOE): ▶️ In the last several years, the United States has seen record growth in rooftop solar system installations among homeowners. As new solar technologies come to the market every day, it’s worth considering how long a solar system lasts and when it may need to be replaced. Learn about system longevity and replacement with this guide: https://lnkd.in/exMgKmQv ▶️ Are you a city planner dedicated to advancing your city's energy goals and transitioning to clean energy? Check out this newly released resource for city energy planning and contribute to meaningful change in your community: https://lnkd.in/gVT-gydm ▶️ We’re working every day to keep our electric grid safe and secure as we deploy more clean energy technologies and resources. In 2019, DOE invested $4.5 million to develop a first-of-its-kind software tool to identify cybersecurity vulnerabilities in firmware and defend the electric grid from cyberattacks and bad actors. Today, the award-winning DisCo software is available for you to download online at no cost, allowing utilities and equipment manufacturers to automatically detect changes in firmware and find unwanted threats! Speaking at the Solar Farm Summit yesterday was a great opportunity to share and learn about the latest in U.S. agrivoltaics. And I was thrilled to announce an upcoming prize opportunity for U.S. farmers, ranchers, and landowners and solar developers to co-locate cattle grazing and solar —the American-Made Large Animal and Solar System Operations (LASSO) Prize. With around one-third of U.S. land used for grazing cattle and other large livestock, co-locating photovoltaics and grazing operations could help preserve agricultural land, generate additional income for landowners, farmers, and ranchers, and ease barriers to solar energy deployment, all while helping decarbonize the energy grid. The LASSO Prize will provide more than $8 million in cash prizes to develop innovative co-location practices, build pilot sites, and share information on best practices, costs, energy, and agricultural outcomes. Farmers, ranchers, solar developers, landowners, product designers, extension agents, and researchers are encouraged to follow the prize and begin forming teams ahead of the formal launch expected in September. http://www.herox.com/LASSO

The Hoover Dam delivers clean energy to more than 1.3 million people. With investments from President Biden’s ambitious clean energy agenda, we are adding over 300 Hoover Dams-worth of carbon-free power to our grid by 2030. That's dam good, if you ask me.

CLEAN ENERGY WIN – One heat pump manufacturer from Michigan just broke ground on their 29,000-ft2 industrial heat pump manufacturing wing, made possible with support from DOE Manufacturing & Energy Supply Chains Office (MESC). Increasing U.S. manufacturing strengthens our energy independence, lowers consumer costs, and creates good-paying American jobs. Collaboration is critical to advancing the technologies we need to achieve our national climate goals, which is why we encourage more American manufacturers to leverage DOE funding to advance our clean energy future. This is the first of several projects that will increase U.S.-based manufacturing of heat pumps and components, as part of the DOE’s Defense Production Act program that aims to strengthen the nation’s energy security. Watch the video to learn more about this win for domestic manufacturing: https://lnkd.in/eFcfX4bf #CleanEnergyWin #MadeInAmerica
