Recently, the community of Newbern, Alabama inaugurated the wastewater treatment system which will connect neighboring homes and businesses to collect, treat and re-use water and reduce upkeep costs. The Columbia World Projects team and partners were on hand to celebrate this milestone in the Transforming Wastewater Infrastructure in the United States project that aims to provide equitable access to one of the most essential services. This week, we welcomed the third cohort of the Social Impact Fellowship! Fellows are rising juniors and seniors at Columbia University and Barnard College who desire to explore careers in social impact and use their talents to help solve complex global challenges. With a career spanning two decades, Ms. Tahilyani joins the Center from the Harvard Business School India Research Center where she was as the head of research. She began her career at Citibank in India, where she spent seven years honing her management skills and building an extensive network of partners and customers. Ms. Tahilyani is a also prominent academic researcher in India, known for her groundbreaking work on start-ups and global corporations, with a focus on change management and the development of sustainable organizations. Wafaa El-Sadr, executive vice president for #ColumbiaGlobal, emphasized that Tahilyani's "in-depth understanding of the regional landscape and the stakeholders, issues, and sectors" is crucial for the success of the Center.
