Asian American & Pacific Islander Alliances at Teach For America

The Asian American and Pacific Islander Alliance works to grow our base of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) teachers and leaders in order to better reflect our nation’s AANHPI students and anticipate the changing student demographics in our schools. The Alliance does this by building power and influence around the issues most pressing to AA and NHPI communities, especially systemic barriers imposed on our AA and NHPI students' ability to reach key educational milestones and economic mobility. We do through storytelling and building awareness, in order to: • Amplify AA and NHPI stories, leadership, and talents. • Shift & strengthen national narrative (and increase understanding) of issues impacting AA and NHPI students and their families. • Elevate and strengthen capacity for AA and NHPI leadership + allies/co-conspirators to address the AA and NHPI communities’ current needs impacting education attainment, while building for the next generation (pathway-building).
