Why People Love Gambling

Binomo - Trading options, some people said that this is part of gambling because of their mechanism to bet whether the values go up or down. Have you ever seen it? Just in case you never see it, please take a look at the video down below:

Do you know what happens in our brain when we do gambling? When we have a gambling win, the brain releases a feel-good chemical called dopamine. But when we gamble often, our brain gets used to the dopamine, which makes that winning feeling difficult to achieve. Consequently, we may have to gamble more and more to feel the same level of pleasure.

Most gambling isn't like sports or academics. It doesn't matter how hard you try or how much you practice, the odds won't change. In fact, some gambling products, like the lottery, scratch cards, casino games, bingo, slot machines, Internet poker, or sports betting, are specifically designed to trick your brain and make you feel like you're winning, even when you're not.

It's important to understand how gambling affects you because the more you understand, the easier it is to change.

THE PSYCHOLOGY OF GAMBLING

Much of the research that supports classifying gambling disorders with other addictions comes from brain imaging studies and neurochemical tests. These have revealed commonalities in the way that gambling and drugs of abuse act on the brain, and the way the brains of addicts respond to such cues. The evidence indicates that gambling activates the brain's reward system in much the same way that a drug does.

When people with gambling disorders watch gambling videos or participate in simulated gambling while their brains are being scanned, scientists can see changes in blood flow in specific brain areas, indicating which areas are more active. In one study, both problem gamblers and cocaine addicts watched videos related to their addictions while in a functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) scanner. Both groups showed diminished activation in the ventral striatum compared to healthy control participants.

The ventral striatum is associated with the limbic system and has been implicated as a vital part of the circuitry for decision making and reward-related behavior. The ventral striatum has a prominent role in reward processing. With strong connections with other emotion generators, this region is active during the anticipation and receipt of monetary and social rewards.

ILLUSION OF CONTROL

An illusion of control is said to occur when a person believes that he or she controls an outcome that is uncontrollable. For example, People who use his/her lucky clothes/rings/shoes or any things related to their belief that using those things will increase the chance to win. It's not limited only to inanimate objects, this one also includes their unique behavior like stomping their feet three times before placing a bet.

The most destructive form of gambling involvement is pathological gambling, thought to comprise approximately 1 to 3 percent of the general population, a prevalence rate similar to bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Pathological gambling, also known as compulsive gambling or disordered gambling, is a recognized mental disorder characterized by a pattern of continued gambling despite negative physical, psychological, and social consequences. The illusion of control of pathological gamblers, however, could be a more general problem, affecting other aspects of their daily life.

CLOSING

Now it's important to remember that the brain constantly changes. When you learn something new, the brain changes to adapt to it, when you forget how to do that thing, the brain changes so you forget it. It's constantly moving. Once we start changing our thoughts, our behaviors, our actions, our brain can change out of that pattern and all of a sudden the addiction starts to fade away.

With these facts, I just want to share my opinion that form my point of view, those people who are lost in Binomo were maybe in the same addiction level with gambling. I just wondering if the Government decides to give their lost money back, it will be a bad lesson for society. In other words, it teaches you that if something bad happens to your life, there will always be someone that will always come to help you. They put a bet with their consciousness. they win consciously and lost consciously. Despite that, there are some people that tried to gain advantages from this. One thing for sure is your life is your responsibility.
