Nucor Teammates Help Local Communities Thrive

Nucor teammates have started the year off strong by making huge impacts beyond our walls. Read on to learn about a few of the projects taking place in divisions across the country.

Nucor Steel Brandenburg Helps Student Parents Thrive

Nucor Steel Brandenburg is helping remove the barrier for student parents to pursue their education with a $125,000 donation to the Elizabethtown Community and Technical College (ECTC). This generous donation will be used toward the construction of a 48-unit apartment facility for student parents as a part of ECTC’s Home for Hope campaign.

“We have enjoyed a strong partnership with ECTC since our Nucor Steel Brandenburg project was announced in 2019,” said Chris R., VP and General Manager. “We’re grateful to be able to contribute to the Home for Hope campaign, which will help students who are parents succeed in completing their degrees.”

Indiana Divisions Unite for United Way

Nucor Building Systems Indiana, Nucor Vulcraft Indiana, Nucor Insulated Panel Group Indiana, and Nucor Fastener Indiana joined together to donate $13,000 to the United Way of Dekalb County. The donation supported United Way of Dekalb County’s “United for Impact” campaign, which focuses on empowering community members in Dekalb County.

Nucor Steel Seattle Connects Safety & Fundraising

Throughout March, teammates from Nucor Steel Seattle (NSSEA) completed their spring safety observation blitz. While safety was the main focus, teammates completed as many observations as they could to raise money for The Center for Active Living, a local nonprofit providing meaningful activities for community members as they age.

The team performed 1506 safety observations and, at a sponsored $10 per observation, raised $15,060 for The Center for Active Living.

“NSSEA supporting our local community is not just about giving back - it's about recognizing that we are all interconnected and that we have a responsibility to care for one another," said Shayne D., Safety Supervisor.

Vulcraft Nebraska Builds Bikes for Charity

Teammates built bikes for the Landon Bos Memorial Bike Rodeo, an annual event honoring Landon Bos – a 7-year-old who was tragically killed by a car while riding his scooter.
