Magnificent Monday – Cultivate Confidence

It’s another Magnificent Monday!

You have been blessed to see the start of another glorious week. The slate has been wiped clean (of the good and bad). You have another opportunity to BE MORE and DO BETTER. This week can be your best week ever! Remember, success is just a string of successful weeks tied together.

Here’s a quote that is particularly insightful and motivating:

If you don’t have confidence,
you’ll always find a way not to win
. ~Carl Lewis

THIS WEEK’S TIP: Cultivate Confidence

The lack of confidence is a close cousin of fear. I believe it’s one of the most destructive stumbling blocks to achievement and lasting success that exists.

Very little in life happens without confidence. That’s largely why confidence levels have been found to be a reliable indicator for future behavior. It seems that in order for us to take action, we have to be either confident about the expected outcome or confident in our ability to deal with the outcome whatever it is. And, here is something interesting. Confidence is not only critical to move us to take action, it is also critical for us to be able to persuade others to take action. One reason is because confidence is our subconscious’ code for trustworthiness, competence, safety or reduced risk and a host of other qualifying factors we’re not even aware we’re using.

So, how do you build the confidence you need to take all required actions and persuade others? I have found that it takes three core things to build confidence: increasing knowledge, preparation and increasing the experience of success of any kind and size on a daily basis. My three core confidence builders remind me of a related quote by William Hazlitt that has become a favorite of mine. He said, “As is our confidence, so is our capacity.” I think he was right on point with this one.

THIS WEEK’S AFFIRMATION:Everyday, I consciously and deliberately cultivate my confidence by increasing my knowledge, diligently preparing myself, and acknowledging and reveling in all my successes (large and small).

Until next Monday, expect the best FROM and FOR yourself!

Profitably yours,
