Employee Story: Amber Haughton

Employee Story: Amber Haughton

Canada Goose isn't like anything else. We've built something great, something special - an iconic performance luxury lifestyle brand with an inspirational and authentic story. It's the people at Canada Goose - the initiative takers, the creative thinkers, and the doers - who continue to keep our culture strong.

Meet Amber Haughton, Brand Ambassador (BA) at our new store location in Dublin, Ireland 🍀. Amber started her Canada Goose journey in 2020 when our brand opened a pop-up in her home country. With our feet firmly planted on the ground on Grafton Street, the most vibrant and luxury shopping district in Ireland, Amber has been focused on demonstrating the Canadian Warmth experience for all guests who enter our permanent flagship store.

Ireland is home to wild coastlines, rugged hiking trails, rolling green plains and unsettled weather conditions - the epitome of the Live in the Open ethos of Canada Goose. And Amber embodies LITO by hiking those rolling green plains, connecting with nature and sometimes heading to the beach to enjoy the sun when Ireland’s unsettled weather decides to cooperate.

Hi Amber! Can you share a little bit more about your role at Canada Goose and how long you’ve been with the brand?

I’m a Brand Ambassador at Canada Goose’s retail store in Dublin, Ireland. I originally started working at Canada Goose’s pop-up store when it opened in December 2020 and I continued working there until CG announced a permanent location on Grafton Street. I loved working the pop-up and I knew I wanted to be a part of the permanent flagship store. So, I supported the transition and helped open the permanent location in April 2023. It was an incredible moment and career milestone for me.

What did your role look like while working as a BA in the Dublin pop-up location? What were some of your favourite moments?

I was excited to take on the BA role when we were just a pop-up in Dublin. In fact, it was my first job, and I learned a lot about retail and Canada Goose within the first few months. I think the most inspiring part for me was the story of Canada Goose – from the products, history, and storytelling – and I love being able to share all of that with our guests.

One of my favourite things from the pop-up was seeing how popular the brand was and how much the people of Dublin loved the brand ♥.

How did you feel when you became a part of the permanent Dublin store experience and what does your typical day-to-day look like now?

I was so excited when I found out that I would be back to work as a BA in CG’s permanent store. It was amazing to see the permanent location come to life, support the opening, and meet all of my new coworkers (an incredible team by the way!). It’s such a beautiful store and it’s hard to put into words how breathtaking our Northern Art Collection is – I recommend travelling to our Dublin store location (or your nearest Canada Goose store) to check it out 😉

When it comes to my day-to-day, it typically involves greeting guests and providing that Canadian Warmth experience. It’s about making a genuine connection with guests, listening to their stories, and finding the right product to suit their needs.

What is your biggest learning while supporting the Canada Goose’s store opening in Dublin?

I gained more confidence in myself by supporting the Dublin store opening. It was a unique experience that not many people can say they’ve been a part of and I was there supporting every step of the way. I learned to trust in myself when making decisions but also learned that asking questions is just as important.

Do you have any passions or hobbies outside of work?

I love to travel. I went to Florida for two weeks in February and loved it. I know we just opened our Miami location there and I can’t wait to go back and explore our pop-up there. My favourite thing while in Florida was sit and watch the beautiful sunsets in the evening.

Next country on my travel list is Portugal... and hopefully Canada!

What is your favourite 'go-to' spot in Dublin?

St Stephens Green Park. It is a beautiful park located right beside Grafton Street and is a great place to go to get away from the hustle and bustle of the street! You can sit down with a coffee or have lunch and watch the world go by. I highly recommend giving it a visit on your next trip to Dublin!

What inspires you?

My mum is my biggest inspiration. She always motivates me to do my best and push myself out of my comfort zone!

What has been your most memorable or proud experience at Canada Goose?

My most memorable experience at Canada Goose is when the new Dublin store opened! I loved meeting all of my new coworkers and doing our introduction activities before we opened. One of those activities was going on a group hike in Howth.

Tell us something that may surprise us about you?

I am extremely superstitious!

What is one way you demonstrate 'Live in the Open' (LITO)?

I like to demonstrate ‘Live In The Open’ by spending a lot of my time outdoors, in my spare time I like to go to the park or if the weather is good, the beach.

What's your favourite Canada Goose product?

It’s so hard to choose just one so I’ll give you my top two instead!

  • Camp Hooded Jacket - This is one of the first Canada Goose products I bought. It’s amazing - so simplistic but yet gives so much warmth. It has seen me through two winters and hopefully many more to come!
  • Waist Pack - I love how versatile this is. Really stylish and goes well with basically any outfit but can also hold so many of your personal things. Perfect for day trips or travel. It’s next on my shopping list!

If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?

For me it would be teleportation. I love to travel and being able to teleport to another country without the hassle of flying on an airplane would be amazing!
