Celebrating Women in Tech

Although women should be celebrated every single day, International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month are a good place to start, but, they also serve as a stark reminder that there is still a huge disparity when it comes to gender and equality. Throughout March we have a duty to celebrate the inspirational women throughout society, shine a light on voices that may be otherwise unheard, and encourage diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives throughout the world to ensure that women are celebrated equally every other day of the year.

STEM industries have historically always been male-dominated and according to research conducted by STEM Women , in 2019 only 24% of the STEM workforce was female. Although this number is thought to be slowly rising, there is still a long way to go, and a lot more that needs to be done to encourage more women into STEM.

In this instalment, we’re celebrating just some of the incredible trailblazers and role models working across the technology industry who are holding senior positions in a male-dominated world and advocating for diversity within the workplace.

Read on below to find out who some of these incredible women are and discover some of the critical work they are doing throughout not just the tech industry but also across society as a whole.

Celebrating Equality Everyday

“In the future, there will be no female leaders. There will just be leaders." - Sheryl Sandberg , former COO at Meta

It’s not enough just celebrating International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month alone. It is clear that more efforts need to be made to encourage and help women from all backgrounds make a career in technology and the wider STEM industries. We hope that by shining a light on these women and celebrating our Top 100 Women in Technology we can help to encourage more women and girls to pursue a career in technology and join our industry.
