We know that low-carbon-intensity hydrogen has the potential to play a critical role in helping industrial manufacturing sectors reduce their emissions. But turning potential into powerful, real-world solutions requires significant investment, technological innovation, collaboration, and policy support.
At the recent Hydrogen Technology Expo North America, Steve Kellogg highlighted how we’ve made extraordinary strides in the past year to address these challenges and advance low-carbon-intensity hydrogen as a commercially viable option for customers.
• We’re planning to build the world’s largest low-carbon-intensity hydrogen facility at our world scale Baytown Refining and Chemical complex and use that hydrogen to reduce carbon emissions at the facility by up to 30%. We are using the expertise from this milestone project to support our customers.
• Our Baytown Olefins Plant will utilize Zeeco, Inc. FREE JET® Gen 3™ hydrogen burners in combination with steam cracker technology to burn close to 100% hydrogen with ultra-low NOx emissions. Both technologies are available to our customers.
• We’re pursing more than $20 billion in lower-emission investments from 2022 through 2027. About 50% of our lower-emission investments are targeted at reducing emissions from operated assets, with the balance going toward reducing the emissions of other companies.
