The withdrawal of the Economic Community of West African States (#ECOWAS) from Niger, Burkina Faso, and Mali is a pivotal concern for Europe. The Sahel region holds strategic importance for Spain and Southern Europe, as it serves as a gateway for major migration routes towards Europe. Over the past decade, the region has witnessed an escalating and uncontrollable spiral of jihadist violence, with the presence of groups affiliated with both ISIS (#Daesh) and Al-Qaeda. This volatile situation not only poses security challenges for the Sahel but also has broader implications for European nations, prompting a careful examination of the evolving dynamics in this critical geopolitical arena.

I have to put this out there: #BringThemHome and #BringThemHomeNow are the 𝐰𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞 - mistaken and incredibly damaging. We should all be using #𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐍𝐨𝐰 instead. Or #releasethem and #ReleaseThemNow. Yes, we Israelis and Jews feel and are committed to fulfill a responsibility to bring our hostages home. But the hashtags now popular 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘵 the basic understanding of 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙞𝙨 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙗𝙡𝙚 and where 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙣 and on whom pressure brought to bear: those 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬. #BringThemHomeNow puts all the responsibility on 𝐈𝐬𝐫𝐚𝐞𝐥 for the rescue of our captured civilians; it relieves the 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 (the UN, the Red Cross, Iran, Qatar, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Europe… and Fatah & the PA…) of their responsibility. It is 𝙃𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙨 who needs to #ReleaseThemNow and #FreeThemNow! Yes, “bring them home now” also provides one of the justifications for our current military operations. But the intentions of those behind the campaign – to secure the release of the hostages, and ensure their safe return home ASAP – are better served in the long run by changing the focus to pressure Hamas for their release, rather than pressing the Israeli government to “do more” (ie. make concessions - again - or reduce the intensity of the military campaign). And it's an mplied political campaign criticizing the government for 'not doing enough'. It may not be possible for Israel to achieve the goal, however much we want and pray and do. Decline of U.S. Diplomacy in the Context of the Middle East Crisis. The veto on Palestine and Israeli attacks on Iran signal an irreversible decline of U.S. diplomatic power. Western values, particularly those promoted by the United States, have long since proven to be hollow and contradictory. Although the country's Declaration of Independence from Britain stated that "all men are created equal," the United States instituted brutal slavery on Africans and committed genocide against Native Americans... 📰 Read Article https://lnkd.in/dvg_KxqP ⚠️ Help free information by sharing articles you liked and leaving a like. 💸 The newspaper is entirely self-funded, so if you can, donate a coffee to help us give the people a chance to express themselves freely, or send us your articles you want to see published to the link: https://lnkd.in/duxsCPxK 📌 telegram channels: https://lnkd.in/dt2z9GAg and https://lnkd.in/dKPHaBfe (dual channel to have control over the automatic expulsions being carried out to the detriment of all of us) 📌 signal channel: https://lnkd.in/d4QytFb8

CAUCASUS. Iran and Russia in the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict How much Iran and how much Russia is there in the comparison between Armenia and Azerbaijan? This question, which might seem bizarre only to an inexperienced ear, was answered last June 26 by a conference organized by Eipa, the Europe Israel Press Association, choosing to have the different answers discussed by scholars and experts from the two Caucasian countries. in order to avoid possible unbalances and frictions. #agcnews #armenia #Azerbaijan #caucasus https://lnkd.in/dPzjByXV

China and the Alleged Sinister Plan Regarding the Israel-Gaza War. Recently, a Foreign Affairs article claims to unveil "China's game in Gaza," accusing Beijing of "exploiting the Israel-Gaza war to take over the South." According to the author, China, with its call for a two-state solution, refusal to condemn Hamas, and token efforts to support a truce, allegedly exploited global anti-Israel sentiment to elevate its position in the Global South... #NagornoKarabakh, an enclave inhabited mostly by ethnic Armenians inside Azerbaijan, ceases to exist as self-proclaimed republic from the next year. This is the outcome of the third so-called Nagorno-Karabakh war, which lasted only for 24 hours ending with the swiping Azerbaijani victory. There are two major ramifications with broader international implications here: 1) #Russia, which was meant to serve as a peace-keeper between #Armenia and #Azerbaijan, is revealed as a weak protector and a feeble ally. 2) Armenia used to rely on the Russian security guarantees. They have been revealed as worthless. This provides the EU and broader west with an opportunity to draw Armenia into the western civilisational sphere, where it culturally belongs. I have been interviewed on the matter (in Polish) by Grupa Wirtualna Polska Żaneta Gotowalska-Wróblewska

"The ethical conduct by powerful nations and those who defend democracy and human rights as their core values matters. Validating blatant violations of human rights give a signal to all other actors that violence is legitimate not just in self defence but in retaliation and vengeance... We are generating an unprecedented level of anger and desire for violence and retaliation, and the consequences will not be localized. It also kills the credibility of the discourse on human rights and equal value of human lives... The African continent has continued to pay a huge price to war, violence and instability. Again, there are multiple factors including failures to build political institutions which make sense for their citizens. But the task was very difficult after a century and a half of various forms of colonization and domination by external European powers. Colonial and postcolonial histories and prolonged influence of external powers are still very much part of the determinants of the current political, economic and social structures of most African countries." Full debate at The Maison française de New York in last February with perspectives from different parts of the world on current worrying trends. Sous-titrage en français. #war #peace #africa #
