Secretary-General in World Meteorological Organization

The World Meteorological Organization has a coordination mechanism to provide forecasts and advice to the United Nations and the humanitarian system on extreme weather events. This life-saving work feeds into the #EarlyWarningsForAll initiative. Major Hurricane #Beryl, which is hitting island communities in the #Caribbean, is an example of what motivates us. We are providing official forecasts based on the latest information from NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration National Hurricane Center and national meteorological services in the region. Many thanks to Federal Office of Meteorology and Climatology MeteoSwiss, the Deutscher Wetterdienst and GeoSphere Austria for supporting us. https://bit.ly/3Lf48sQ

Great. That’s a good showcasing of cooperation in shared EWs . Since disasters don’t have boundaries and the events in one country could affect other country , it’s suggested the investment should be in setting up network of comprehensive observations systems in developing countries. Let’s have a 100% network of Detection and forecast systems. It will yield rich dividends. Just a good for thought Celeste Saulo and Kamal Kishore .

Much needed approach. But still has to be more inclusive. But encouraging. CEMS - Circular Environmental Management System - is the way forward.

The sharing of bad/extreme weather forecasts will surely save lives! It is great to see cooperation across the citizens of our planet. Saving lives, and even property, and of course the environment shows excellent stewardship of our planet and all of its residence and forms of life.
