It’s clear — healthcare professionals need to be protected. Nobody knows the issues they are facing better than the real people in healthcare. 🩺 In April, FIGS brought 16 healthcare workers to Washington D.C. to meet with congressional and senate offices on both sides of the aisle and tell their stories first hand, raise awareness, and bring the voices of healthcare to life. At the end of May, we officially submitted our request to both the House and Senate to secure funding for funding for four critical areas: - $45 million for the Lorna Breen Act - $1.51 billion for healthcare workforce development - Funding for a tracking program to enhance healthcare providers' wellbeing - Support for work-based learning programs through the Departments of Education and Labor for the next generation of healthcare professionals This is a significant step towards supporting those who dedicate their lives to caring for others. 1wAmazing to see this involvement from this company. We are losing our nurses (and other healthcare workers) at alarming rates. Not only are they leaving the field they are getting sick and dying. In my own unit, in the past 4 years cancer, strokes and suicide has affected the lives of the nurses I work shoulder to shoulder to with. Healthy nurses...I know that the stress of our jobs and the lack of support is sabotaging our own health. It is heartbreaking. We hold the fabric of the country together, we are the equivalent of soldiers for our country, but we stethoscopes and we do the healing.
