Realized that I successfully defended my #reinforcementlearning #fuzzysets PhD dissertation 20 years ago today! Even got a shout-out from Georgia Tech H. Milton Stewart School of ISyE on Twitter!! I admit -- 20 years ago I had *no idea* how big this area of #machinelearning would become! What started off as a desire to teach a computer to learn from trial-and-error has turned into a great #analytics #datascience career, including stints at Lucent Technologies, UPS, The Home Depot, and now Cardlytics. It doesn't get any better than this! #wecandothat #yougottaloveit Big thanks to my esteemed advisor, Prof. Augustine Esogbue -- INFORMS Fellow, IEEE Fellow, Georgia Tech NSBE pioneer and Richard Bellman's first PhD student -- who understood very early the importance and impact that machine learning would have. His research grants through #NSF, #NASA, and #EPRI funded our research and my dissertation.

Ahhh, the gold old days at Ga Tech.   We had a good group there, Warren. Students and Professors.   20 years?

Amazing stuff Warren!  Appreciate you blazing a trial for us to follow!  Predictive modeling and risk algorithms have made a real impact on how my organization approaches the management of population health risk for our clients, and we can use psychographics to communicate benefits and motivate plan members to make better choices for their health. Go Barbarians!

And 20 years ago I remember you as the only other technology guy who had a clue when we met on Fridays for drinks through the society at a variety of Atlanta venues.  Congratulations on a lifetime of success and significance.

Congratulations Warren!!! An amazing story...
