Who’s afraid of little old me? Apparently, some men are 😂 Speaking on stage recently, Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters, a 55-year-old man (not sharing his video because frankly I don’t want to give him and his nonsense more of a stage), mocked Taylor Swift and implied that she doesn’t sing live during her concerts 🤦🏻♀️ Then last week some dude called John wrote an opinion piece for Newsweek (do me a favour don’t look it up because it will just give them clicks which is probably what they want), stating (and I quote) that Taylor Swift is not a good role model for girls because... (wait for it) - she is “unmarried and childless”. Bahahahahahahaha! 😂😂😂😂 I peed myself laughing at how scared these two men are of the powerhouse that is @taylorswift 🙌🏻 Here is what I am thinking: sit down Dave and John and others like you, no one cares what you think about a woman, who holds the record for the most American Music Awards (AMAs) won by any artist, with a total of 40 wins as of 2023, and who also made history by becoming the first woman to win Album of the Year at the Grammys three times, not to mention the fact that her ongoing Eras Tour has been projected to gross over a billion dollars globally. You and men like you will never understand what this woman has given little girls everywhere so kindly piss off! #TaylorSwift #DoubleStandards

This has been blown way out of proportion. I was at the Foo's (golden circle ;-) )that day and it was said tongue in cheek. They're friends behind the scenes and can take a bit of banter. We need to stop entertaining this type of "news" and only when we understand the context can we make judgements. Plus, Dave has never said he's perfect or better than TSwizz. He followed up his comments by saying he's made mistakes and coined his tour as the 'errors tour' appropriately. We all know (incl Dave) that Taylor also has a live band... Let's calm down about this misinterpreted moment and focus on something more important now.

Took my teenage daughter to her Eras tour. It was wonderful. I am now a swiftie (fan). She broke the record in Scotland for the largest Arena concert ever. She grows the economy in the locations she goes and also donates to food banks there. She and her band play and her dancers dance for 3.5 hours, no interval, which is no mean feat. She spoke during songs and stopped songs to ask for security to help, so isn’t lip syncing for most of it. She has given girls (and actually anyone) words to express their feelings. She is a billionaire for a very good reason. Dave Grohl who is her friend wasn’t necesarily the issue, it was the press that twisted the story in a misogynist way. John’s comment, poor.

This is the same woman who has donated money to keep food banks running in every city she has performed at. She has done more to alleviate child hunger than the Government has achieved in the past 16 years. She is DEFINITELY a positive role model.

Dave is a proud father to Violet Grohl , - an amazing young woman and her two younger sisters Haper and Ophelia. His adoration and support for Violets talent has been seen at his concerts. The other daughters have not been in the media. He adores his wife . He writes about how important his Mother has been in his life and how great she is in his book. This man is not intimidated by women - he empowers them . This is the media taking things out of context - yes I have seen both clips. For all we know it is an inside joke between them .

Found both of those instances so indicative of the blatant misogyny that successful women always have to deal with still to this day. Taylor is an excellent role model! She is strong independent, respected, talented, hard working and generous. She gave more money to food banks that will literally feed families for a year in every city she has played. Men need to stop saying that we have to be married and with children to be considered a role model. (Also BTW was shocked that Newseek was actually still in business I thought it had gone into publishing oblivion a decade ago. Perhaps it belongs there is this is the drivel they are reporting on when our very democracy is under threat by a sexual abuser.) So men out there do better and this fall when you vote remember that women's freedoms everywhere are under attack and maybe if you can show a bit of empathy we can ensure a better world for our sisters, daughters, wives, aunts and mothers.

And the fact that she has donated incredible amounts to food banks in every location she tours at. This woman is a force to be reckoned with, and she is one of the best role models I could hope for my daughter to have

Sigh. Okay, so yeah, let’s start with the fact that Dave’s joke was probably unnecessary. But he was being sarcastic. Which you can clearly see if you actually watch the clip: https://youtu.be/2018bO3XK74 He also doesn’t say that Taylor doesn’t sing live. What he is, in fact, saying is that they are a live band. Meaning that most if not all that people hear at a concert is played live by the people on stage when they are on stage. Maybe Taylor has a band on stage with her, but there’s a lot of the music that is coming from the hard drive as anyone can hear from this random example: https://youtu.be/CFP5LNdSWso Now, I’m not saying one is better than the other. I’ve myself done gigs where everything was played live, gigs where live performance was enhanced with extra tracks, gigs where everything was playback (this usually because it was live television with a lot of changes and no time for setting up). Sometimes it’s an aesthetic choice, other times it’s an necessity. But you are allowed to have preferences. Even 55-year-old men like Dave. What I am tired of is people on the internet getting worked up by claims that aren’t even factually true. Don’t believe everything people tell you on social media! Peace!

Taylor Swift is an inspiration to countless young people, globally. Both, her songs' messages and her lifestyle inspire and guide much of their lives. In that regard, her actions and performances are greatly influential upon society and its values. Hence, TS being rather unique in that regard, her choices are critical in societal evolution. Undoubtedly, she is a talented artist and a shrewd business lady. However, her life's choices unavoidably will be subject to multiple perceptions and interpretations; in a social system, where such expressions are not only allowed but encouraged, one must and quite likely will scrutinize these choices, hopefully with a sense of responsibility. Consequently, I do not view the mildly expressed criticisms discussed in the post too offensive, but rather welcomed.

I’d rather little girls looked up to Taylor swift - a woman who controls her own destiny and makes a difference - than be boxed in by ideas of what a woman “should” be. So frustrating that these opinions and conversations seem to be happening more and more often. I’ve seen a lot of things trying to pull women back into their “place” recently. Methinks the patriarchy is scared!!

Thank you for not linking to the story, the Daves and Johns of this world need less exposure, not more!
