Out of step, out of time. Soon to be decommissioned. It will be interesting as the fission fuel shortage becomes real as they try to treble the industry and advances in the renewables, hydrogen grid variable generation and batteries as a system solution of energy generation for the whole of the world not just 39 countries out of 189 not just the rich but for all without weaponisation, without pollution of our waterways and without the need to bury waste that is dangerous for 1000 of tears what a waste of time you are here. Fission is an interim unlike fusion and renewables, with the grid-attached variable hydrogen generators and batteries which are deploying faster in 189 countries as opposed to the 39 that fission can Fission fuel. It is going to get tight in 100 or 80 years. Which Nuclear fission or fusion? https://lnkd.in/g36Z4k6P

Catalyzing Advanced Nuclear Development: The Road Ahead ๐๐ฌ TL;DR: The Nuclear Innovation Alliance (NIA) has released a roadmap emphasizing the need for private-sector capital commitment and public-sector risk-sharing to advance nuclear technologies. The roadmap addresses challenges like uncertain costs and extended project timelines for first-of-a-kind nuclear projects. Highlights: โข Reluctance due to unclear business cases and uncertain costs. โข Financial backing to cover completion costs and encourage investment. โข Legislative actions for risk-sharing and project management incentives. โข Gathered from 2023-2024 workshops on small modular reactors (SMRs). โข Despite NRC certification, commercial-scale project construction hasn't started. โข Serial, multi-project commitments for economies of scale and shared costs among multiple offtakers. โข Partnerships with private entities for financial support and project planning to mitigate risks. #NuclearInnovation #CleanEnergy #AdvancedNuclear #PublicPrivatePartnerships #SustainableFuture #EnergyInnovation Article Source: https://lnkd.in/gn6AjCnE

Today should have been the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) group supply chain event in Telford, a great opportunity to see the latest innovations being developed to clean-up the UKโs earliest nuclear sites safely, securely and cost effectively. Unfortunately, it has been postponed due to the event coinciding with the run up to the General Election. However, we still wanted to mark the occasion by showcasing a potentially game-changing innovation being developed at pace by a cross-industry project team. Sellafieldโs Higher Activity Waste Thermal Treatment (HAWTT) โ Tranche 1 Team (comprising diverse organisations ranging from Sellafield, Prime Contractors to SMEโs like RED) has developed a full scale working prototype to understand the feasibility of using Plasma technology to size reduce Plutonium Contaminated Waste. The animation below is designed to both illustrate how the prototype works and the potential benefit the technology could have for UK PLC by significantly reducing the volume of Plutonium Contaminated Waste in long term storage. We're proud to have been part of this team, supporting the development of this technology from a blank sheet of paper to a working prototype in just 24 months. Weโre already looking forward to telling you more (including learnings from the trials programme) at the rescheduled event in 2025! Best invest in Building Fusion power, space, and maritime propulsion systems and industry, You talk about Nuclear (meaning Fission) and fail to discuss fusion. https://lnkd.in/ge_aeX7M The nuclear fission industry is, ignorant of what's happening around you. Pull your uranium heads out, start adjusting your industry to fusion energy and start preparing to enter the commercially growing fusion energy industry. As it dawns on Earth like the sun. Great Headline Guardian on Nuclear fission. https://lnkd.in/g8sMZtpR Fission is moving towards obsolescence at an accelerated pace, as it is "out of step, out of time, out of place," and merely a temporary industry globally. https://lnkd.in/gbd_mZqk Commercial fusion electrical generation is a promising innovative sustainable and clean energy method. By 2028, Helion is expected to start producing electricity from its first fusion commercial power plant, which will provide electricity to Microsoft. The plant will produce at least 50 MWe after an initial ramp-up period. https://lnkd.in/gY9J3MQY Now see what is happening in the Fusion industry in the world. https://lnkd.in/g9hMBD7a As fission trebles, fuel shortage is increasingly real, https://lnkd.in/gze5rwpr
First Ever Advanced Reactor Submitted for Justification in UK โ We are delighted to share that we have applied for a justification decision for newcleoโs lead-cooled fast reactor design, the LFR-AS-200. ๐ It marks the first ever application for justification of an advanced nuclear technology in the UK. ๐ The application makes the case that the benefits of clean, firm, flexible power from the LFR-AS-200 would far outweigh any potential risks, and demonstrates that the design would support nuclear energyโs contribution to a stable and well-balanced electricity grid. ๐ Justification is a key regulatory step which requires a Government decision before any new class or type of practice involving ionising radiation can be introduced in the UK. Nuclear Industry Association CEO Tom Greatrex, said: โAdvanced reactors like newcleoโs lead-cooled fast reactor design have enormous potential to support the UKโs energy security and net zero transition, so we were delighted to apply for this decision." newcleo CEO & Chairman Stefano Buono, said: โThis is an important milestone in our development programme and a vital step forward in our delivery plan for the UK. Weโre of course delighted to be the first ever Advanced Technology to be submitted to the justification process and the first reactor design to be considered since the last wave of large-scale designs, almost a decade ago." Lead Licensing PM for Duke Energy's future ESP/COL at Belews Creek, NC; Lead Licensing PM for Westinghouse AP300 Design Certification; Lead Licensing PM for NRCs nuclear fuel reprocessing draft SRP
This week the Nuclear Regulatory Commission issued the Staff Requirements Memorandum to SECY-23-0021, โProposed Rule: Risk-Informed, Technology-Inclusive Regulatory Framework for Advanced Reactorsโ (ML24064A047). The SRM approves issuing a proposed rule that would establish a new framework in NRC regulations for optional use by commercial advanced nuclear reactor applicants for new reactor license applications. The Nuclear Energy Innovation and Modernization Act (NEIMA) directed the agency to undertake this rulemaking because the existing regulatory frameworks for reactor licensing were designed to accommodate LWR technology, but many prospective advanced reactor applicants may use non-LWR technology
