Sales Engineer bij Advanced Design of Recycling Machines

Last week's ITB conference has been great! After my keynote presentation, many high-quality contributions followed. A few take-aways: - Life Cycle Assessment is complex. What has a bigger impact: reducing the weight of a car part (and therefore its lifetime CO2 impact) or making sure it remains recyclable? - As long as recyclers are not getting paid properly to remove certain car parts manually, it won't happen! Despite best intentions, no one is going to take out car seats made from recyclable PET, and no one is going to hand-dismantle (or even recognize!) headlights made from polycarbonate. - In general, more OEM awareness is necessary on how End-of-Life Vehicles are being treated. So many resources are going into projects aiming to increase sustainability without consideration of the existing dismantling process. - Consumer attitude is important as well. Does it really have an impact to reduce the weight of a part with half a kg if everyone drives around in a 3-ton truck? All in all a very interesting conference, where OEM's, chemical companies and recyclers could meet and exchange ideas. #ITB #Conference #Sustainable #Vehicle #Production #recycling #ELV #plastics
