In celebration of #AAPIHeritageMonth, The Dallas Foundation is proud to share and spotlight the work of the Worldwide Education Fund of The Dallas Foundation (WEF)! In 2009, Kamal Daya founded WEF as a community fund to provide opportunities for quality language education, early childhood development, and educational and vocational scholarships to children and young adults in underserved communities throughout Central and South Asia and West Africa. WEF’s work has benefited the lives of over 20,000 students, helping children and youth achieve their full potential. Thank you J. A. Armstrong III and Builders of Hope Community Development Corporation for your vision of creating the Property Tax Assistance Fund, and to Matt Goodman and D Magazine for sharing the story. We are proud to be among the partners supporting this important work to ensure legacy residents in West Dallas can remain in their homes and benefit from our city's prosperity. #HereforGood
Since 2017, property values in West Dallas have quadrupled causing significant burden to legacy residents. Thanks to D Magazine for announcing Builders of Hope Community Development Corporation Property Tax Assistance Fund - a fund dedicated to offering relief for neighbors by paying incremental increases in their tax bill. This historic initiative wouldn’t be possible without our partners. A special thanks to The Dallas Foundation , Tommy McBride, CFP®, CIMA®, CPWA®, CAP® , Trinity Park Conservancy , Child Poverty Action Lab (CPAL) , JPMorgan Chase & Co. /Michelle Thomas, MBA and Drexell Owusu for being a thought leader and advocate! We must be intentional about protecting our most vulnerable neighbors as we seek to grow our city. Dallas belongs to everyone and that means creating spaces and places for households of all incomes. #bohcdc #hopeliveshere #antidisplacement

Dallas Foundation Fundholder Kay Winzenried recently joined our staff for an update and construction tour of Metrocare Services' future Mental Health and Disability Innovation Center at Hillside. As the largest provider of behavioral health services in Dallas County, Metrocare provides same-day access to psychiatric care regardless of ability to pay. The 45,000-sq.-ft. Mental Health Clinic will serve as the centerpiece of Metrocare’s new campus where children, adults, families, veterans, and those with disabilities will receive integrated, evidence-based care in a dignified setting that fosters healing. In recognition of #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth, The Dallas Foundation applauds Metrocare’s county-wide leadership in mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance abuse services, as well as our many fundholders who, like Kay, are helping to make this new facility possible. #HereforGood
