Jack H. will attend Furman University as a pre-med student with plans to become an orthopedist. At Thaden, Jack served as the captain of the varsity basketball team and soccer team and earned All-Conference Honors for both sports. He received the 'Stormer Award his Senior year, which recognizes students who achieve excellence in athletics while pursuing the opportunity of a Thaden education with determination and integrity. Reflecting upon his time at Thaden Jack says, "The Thaden experience has taught me to approach life with a curious mindset and a desire to understand before forming opinions or conclusions. I have learned to appreciate the things that are different and to embrace the unexpected."

Hadley A. '24 will attend the University of Arkansas in the fall and intends to major in biomedical engineering with a minor in theater. She also intends to join the University's ultimate frisbee team. At Thaden, Hadley played significant roles in our theater productions since Grade 7 and was a founding member of the ultimate frisbee team. She was also an all-state and all-conference athlete representing Thaden's track and field team and placed first in the open 800m race in 2023-24. She was active in many extracurricular clubs such as D&D, calligraphy, choir, and cheer. Reflecting on her time here, Hadley had this to say: "Thaden has fostered a curiosity and love of learning in me for which I am forever grateful. Above all, Thaden has introduced me to some of the most fascinating, kind, and wonderful people I have ever met. My teachers, coaches, and peers will tie me to Thaden forever." Rashan P. '24 will attend Gonzaga University in the fall. At Thaden, Rashan was Vice President of the Student of Color Union and participated in track and field. He attributes his academic success to Ms. King, and reflects: "Ms. King made me realize some of my passions and academic interests and helped shape me as a person. I never liked history classes, but after her class in Junior year, I started to like history a lot more." Congratulations, Rashan! Soar high!

Meaghan L. '24 will attend Furman University in Greenville, SC in the fall. She intends to study health science on a pre-med track. At Thaden, Meaghan excelled both in and outside of the classroom, playing volleyball, basketball, and soccer. She was also elected to the Student Council and served as a Peer Leader. Reflecting on her time at Thaden, Meaghan expressed particular gratitude for the support and mentorship of Dr. Karen Stirrett, who taught her molecular genetics and advised her senior thesis. "Dr. Stirrett", says Meaghan, "supported me academically and emotionally throughout my senior year." Onward, Meaghan! Keep soaring!

A group of nine Thaden Middle School teachers and administrators went to The Responsive Classroom training a few weeks ago. Responsive Classroom courses are designed to empower educators to create a school environment that is responsive to the developmental strengths and needs of every young adolescent while helping students develop the academic and social skills they need to be successful. They look forward to implementing Responsive Classroom techniques in the fall!

Our Photography Camp spent some time yesterday learning about lighting and storytelling in their "Storytelling Sessions." Campers took turns reading a book to the group, while other campers designed lights according to the action and mood.

Regan R. '24 will attend Union College in Schenectady, New York in the fall to study technical theater. At Thaden, Regan was involved in choir, and upper school theater productions in various roles like props manager, stage manager, and assistant director. Regan also really enjoyed being a Peer Leader and Student Ambassador. Reflecting on her time at Thaden, Regan shares: "Thaden has made me a more confident and inquisitive person. I've learned how to ask meaningful questions and critically examine situations. Because of this school, I have learned how to use my voice and the value of sharing my opinions and perspectives. Finally, because of Thaden, specifically Ms. Mengert, I am pursuing a career and degree in theater which I would have never even thought of as a possibility or something I would want to do before Grade 7." Gabi RB. ‘24 looks forward to attending St. Olaf College in Minnesota in the fall. At Thaden, Gabi particularly enjoyed his science, math, and film classes and appreciated the attention that his English and history teachers paid to developing his skills of writing and research. In addition to his academic pursuits, Gabi started on the Thaden varsity boy’s soccer team and ran on the cross country team. Reflecting on how his experiences at Thaden have shaped him, Gabi shared: “Thaden helped me grow academically while also encouraging the making of new friendships, through sports or otherwise. Amelia A. '24 is excited to attend Rhodes College in Memphis, TN in the fall. At Thaden, Amelia enjoyed science classes, particularly Dr. Stirrett's molecular genetics and anatomy course, and she participated in basketball and soccer.
