Students participating in this program will develop public speaking and leadership skills, learn more about the free enterprise system and hear from engaging motivational speakers. Consumer trends, mental health and livestock and crop issues were among the topics highlighted this week during our Summer Conference. Nearly 400 farmers and ranchers were in Arlington June 24-26 for the meeting that gave an update on agricultural trends, issues and a political outlook.

Texas fields and pastures make a pretty backdrop for photos, but it’s important to remember that the land, crops and livestock are the livelihoods of farmers and ranchers. Whether you’re doing it for Instagram, TikTok, to get the perfect selfie or that beautiful family photo, fields of sunflowers aren’t a free pass to trespass. Texas dairy farmers like David Volleman and Jouwert Talsma take great pride in caring for their dairy cattle. They are focused on their cows and bringing udderly delicious milk to grocery stores near you! Did you know: Milk travels from the dairy farm to the grocery store in about 48 hours! And a cow produces an average of 8+ gallons of milk per day! And Texas is now ranked #3 in milk production! How’s that for some “dairy” fun facts?! #NationalDairyMonth

Teachers from across Texas were in Waco last week for our Summer Ag Institute. They toured farms, ranches and agribusinesses in the Central Texas area. They saw technology and science at work in agriculture and took home free resources at the end of the week to help them incorporate agriculture into their classrooms!
