The heavy rain and winds from Hurricane Beryl damaged crops along the Texas coast. Farmers are hopeful that most of the corn and cotton crops will be salvageable. But it depends on the field, the damage sustained and the stage of the crop. Farmers do all they can to grow a crop, but in the end Mother Nature holds the cards. Photos by Bob Reed and Richard Beyer

Texas fields and pastures make a pretty backdrop for photos, but it’s important to remember that the land, crops and livestock are the livelihoods of farmers and ranchers. Whether you’re doing it for Instagram, TikTok, to get the perfect selfie or that beautiful family photo, fields of sunflowers aren’t a free pass to trespass. Texas dairy farmers like David Volleman and Jouwert Talsma take great pride in caring for their dairy cattle. They are focused on their cows and bringing udderly delicious milk to grocery stores near you! Did you know: Milk travels from the dairy farm to the grocery store in about 48 hours! And a cow produces an average of 8+ gallons of milk per day! And Texas is now ranked #3 in milk production! How’s that for some “dairy” fun facts?! #NationalDairyMonth
