It's a pretty cool start to the week when "Spring Fertility" are the first two words of The New York Times' Sunday Business cover story! Thank you to The New York Times for featuring Spring in such a thoughtful piece on #eggfreezing, and for highlighting how and why it's become an increasingly popular family-planning option for professionals looking to delay parenthood. "Across Spring's clinics nationwide, the number of egg freezing cycles undertaken last year jumped 37 percent from the year before... The prototypical patient also seems to be getting younger, doctors say, a change coinciding with a steady uptick in corporate benefit packages that cover fertility preservation. In 2015 just 5 percent of large employers covered egg freezing; in 2023, nearly one in five did." Shout out to our friends at Progyny, Inc., Carrot Fertility, WIN, and Stork Club Reproductive Care Benefits for your continued dedication to making comprehensive #fertilitybenefits more accessible! "Our son will be turning three at the end of June so our household is in full toddler mode. Currently we are a family of three but on February 18, 2024 we completed a second embryo transfer and we are so excited to be welcoming our second child in November. This Pride we will be celebrating with family and friends. Reading books to our son about pride, diversity, and acceptance. Mostly we will continue to live out and proud as a LGBTQ+ family." The journey to #parenthood has evolved significantly with the help of assisted reproductive technologies, making it possible for anyone who wants to become a parent to build the family of their dreams. For many #LGBTQ+ individuals and couples, third-party reproduction offers a path to starting or expanding their family. The support of donor tissue (donor eggs, donor sperm, and/or gestational carriers) enables intended parents to overcome any biological hurdles to make a baby. It’s an exciting option for family-building; nevertheless, navigating this process requires careful consideration and support each step of the way.
