Because the User Needs Model 2.0 was highlighted as an important tool in last week’s Digital News Report of Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism, we received numerous requests for clarification. Rutger Verhoeven was a guest on a live webinar by the Commissariaat voor de Media and briefly explained to 🎙 Elger van der Wel ⌨️ what the model entails and why it is essential for more editorial teams to use the model as a guideline. Eighteen weeks in and it feels like we’re only just starting to hit our stride. Feedback’s been great and we’ve already made positive changes to what we offer. So if you checked out The QT way back when we launched in February then it’s well worth having a fresh look. For starters our team of trusted freelancers - you’ll recognise many of the region’s foremost voices - is bigger, stronger and more diverse. What they have to say really is worth reading. We’ve delivered in-depth coverage on the mayoral elections, social care, prisons, education and more and continue to shine a light on the big players and emerging stars of North East business. There’s no better place to catch up with everything that’s happening on the arts and entertainment scene - Sam Wonfor and David Whetstone have long been the region’s culture tastemakers and continue to set the agenda. And our team of storytellers is second to none. We’re determined to keep informative, long-form journalism alive. Let us know what we’re doing right, what we’re doing wrong and what could be better. #northeast #news #business #culture #storytelling #journalism #politics #theqt
The QT is a weekly online news and features magazine. It is independent, politically-neutral but North East biased. Subscribing to The QT is an investment in quality regional journalism. There are no obtrusive ads, pop-ups or clickbait headlines. Just quality stories told by quality storytellers.

With digital disruptions and fast-paced news cycles, many media houses are adopting strategies to grab audiences’ attention: - More negativity (“If it bleeds, it leads”) - More “breaking news” alerts (even if it's not urgent) - More stories (often of lower quality) - More hard-hitting, sensational headlines - More drama and conflict But it turns out audiences don't love this. How can you break the trend? How can #decisionmakers and #journalists move towards more positive, engaging reporting? Our Constructive Journalism Toolkit shows you how: https://lnkd.in/e4FVybQ4 #mediamanagement #tools #solutionsjournalism #positivenews

Marketing Executive with experience in Content Production, Brand Partnerships and Integrated Marketing
Brands supporting news has been declining at an alarming rate for decades and the statistics cited by Lou Paskalis, chief strategy officer for Ad Fontes Media, are worrisome. According to Paskalis, “In a 15-year period ending in March of 2020 … we witnessed an 80 percent decline in advertiser investments in news, which has resulted, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in a 50 percent decline in the number of people working in newsrooms in roughly the same period.” As someone who values the importance of a free press, I greatly appreciate the important work of Ad Fontes Media in helping to promote media literacy and combat misinformation. The ad community’s support is critical to the cause. #AdFontesMedia #MediaLiteracy #FreePress
