As we continue to celebrate Pride Month, we're thrilled to introduce Danny Cabral, an inspiring professional at SimplePractice. Danny’s journey, from embracing his identity to championing inclusivity, offers valuable insights and motivation for us all. Q: Why is it important to support and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community at work? A: "It is important because even though we are in a professional setting, an individual’s identity and the characteristics that make them unique are important to support/celebrate. This helps an individual feel seen and valued within a collective." Q: How has being part of the LGBTQ+ community influenced your career and work life? A: "When I accepted who I was there was a huge realization where I knew I wanted my work life to reflect that. I started as a speech-language pathologist where my goal was to help all people gain the skills to communicate their needs and wants. Whereas now my goal is to help other healthcare providers navigate running a successful business so they can give back to others." Q: What initiatives or practices at SimplePractice make you feel supported and included as an LGBTQ+ individual or ally? A: "The official induction of the ERG I found has been one of the greatest ways I feel supported here at the company." #PrideMonth #CelebrateDiversity #WorkplaceEquality

As we continue to celebrate Small Business week, we shine a spotlight on Moe Ari Brown, LMFT. Discover how Moe harnesses the strength of SimplePractice to propel their business forward. Q: Tell us a little bit about your practice. A: I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) who founded Transcendent Therapy & Consulting, LLC in 2019. I specialize in love, LGBTQIA+ issues, and gender-affirming care, offering holistic therapy that considers all aspects of my clients' well-being. As the Love and Connection Expert for Hinge, I also consult on diversity, equity, and inclusion and serve on the board of It Gets Better, advocating for LGBTQIA+ youth worldwide. Q: What specific challenges have you faced as a small business owner running your own practice? A: Moving from Illinois to Georgia for my practice presented challenges, especially in setting up the right electronic medical record (EMR). Already paneled in Illinois, I needed an EMR with integrated telehealth features for my clients. SimplePractice took the guesswork out of opening a practice. Q: How do you feel you, as a small business owner, are impacting your community? A: Venturing into private practice has broadened my horizons beyond my past community experiences. With Transcendent Therapy and SimplePractice, I've reached clients exploring diverse topics like relationships, gender identity, and LGBTQ+ issues. My aim is to enrich everyday interactions with empathy and therapeutic value, whether through my practice, consulting, speaking engagements, or educational initiatives, fostering authenticity, belonging, and love in relationships. #SmallBusinessWeek #SimplePractice

As we celebrate Small Business Week, meet Loree Johnson, PhD, LMFT, whose thriving practice is powered by SimplePractice. Learn more about the challenges and rewards of running her own practice. Q: Tell us a little bit about your practice. A: I'm a licensed marriage and family therapist with 15 years of full-time private practice experience in Los Angeles. My focus lies in perinatal mental health, mood disorders, infertility, postpartum transitions, pregnancy loss (including abortion), and infertility/reproductive trauma. Currently certified in EMDR, which I use in treating infertility/reproductive trauma. Q: What specific challenges have you faced as a small business owner running your own practice? A: Moving from agency work to running my own practice was a tough shift, requiring a new mindset for business success. Challenges included setting fees, navigating insurance panels, managing expenses, records, billing, and accounting tasks. Balancing therapist and entrepreneur roles was particularly tough, as this aspect isn't typically covered in graduate school. Q: How has SimplePractice helped you address and overcome these challenges? A: SimplePractice demystified the billing process, which is a massive feat for many therapists such as myself. I used to outsource my billing for years and was initially resistant to billing through the site until I learned how easy it was. The analytics and reports have made it easier to manage revenue and outstanding balances and gauge projections, making reconciling my taxes at the end of each year much smoother. #SmallBusinessWeek #SimplePractice
