Chief E-Commerce Officer/Exec Board Member/Senior Vice President E-Commerce and Retail Stores/Digital Strategy & Transformation
This morning we shared our Q1 results and I’m pleased to share online grocery continues to perform well, representing an impressive 18% of our food sales. This is underpinned by a 5.6% increase in the number of average weekly orders, showcasing our unwavering commitment to meeting the needs of our customers and delivering uncompromising value. Asda is firmly established as the UK’s second-largest online supermarket thanks to the efforts of our dedicated colleagues. I would like to thank them for their continued hard work. This is great to see, congrats. One area I'm curious to see how you navigate is the recent Aldi and Lidl price match strategy. With a growing online market, cost pressure for effective delivery could put more pressure on the bottom line - if you intend to keep your online pricing and online order pricing equivalent.
Congratulations on a strong Q1 performance! It's impressive to see the significant growth in your online grocery segment. Can you share any specific strategies or innovations that have contributed to this success?
Congratulations!
Great work Simon Gregg 💪

1moImpressive. ASDA was one of pioneers of click and collect in the UK. In fact the one of the few who made it really convenient. Absolutely loved using it at Park Royal branch every other week on my way home while was still living in London. Would you be able to share what’s the split between pick up and delivery in the online revenue? Do you see much difference in the basket size and contents between these two ways of online shopping?
