The recognition of digital connectivity as one of the transformative catalytic pillars is a step towards the right direction. More than ever, young people remain the greatest hope for Africa to advance its sustainability trajectory. More than ever , digital inclusion has become a fundamental human right underpinning the attainment of the SDGs. 2030 Agenda and the SDG's One topic to talk about is definitely the 2030 Agenda and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), adopted in 2015 by the United Nations. There are four key steps to remember: 1) The Agenda applies to all countries and actors; 2) The SDG are interlinked; 3) No one should be left behind (so address inequality, promote inclusion, and create a world where everyone can develop their potential); 4) Everyone needs it (there is a need for commitment from everyone). The 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals are a reminder of our shared responsibility to protect the planet by building a future that is sustainable for all. CEIR is working with member companies to achieve these goals. There is a responsibility to act, both as individuals and as members of larger organizations and communities. #Agenda3030 #SDGs #Sustainability #CEIR #valves #taps #Collaboration

In September, I had the honor of attending the 2023 Sustainable Development Goal Summit at the United Nations as a representative of YOURS and the Vision Zero Youth Council. Here are some highlights from the week: ⭐ I moderated a panel during the SDG Action Weekend titled "Unlocking the Next Generation of Changemakers," which was organized by the United Nations Foundation, the International Labour Organization, the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), UNICEF, the Global Partnership for Education, Plan International, and others. Full details and the recording of this session can be found here: https://lnkd.in/dUinvMqQ ⭐ I attended side-events hosted by the Clinton Global Initiative, the FIA Foundation and PMNCH, and got to meet with various UN entities and multiple Permanent Missions to the UN. ⭐ 6 Key Points from the Sessions I Attended: 1. Youth-led initiatives, projects, and organizations need financial support. We need funding and investments in order to make our ideas a reality and ensure the sustainability of these ideas. 2. Local actions are pieces of the global agenda puzzle. We need to shift our thinking from "Think Globally Act Locally" to "Think Locally Act Globally" - the SDGs are only going to become a reality if we act on them in a local context. What do the SDGs look like in your community, and what can you do at a grassroots level to push for change? 3. We need to stop thinking of "future leaders" as people who may eventually show up, as empty seats in a room of decision makers. The future is now, and the people who are our future leaders are already in the conversation. 4. We need to uplift youth who are still finding their voice and empower youth advocates, not only the ones who are speaking at the UN, in the media, etc... 5. The same voices are being heard at High-Level meetings. We want to hear from youth who are actually doing the work and ensure that our current adult leaders are in the room when they are speaking. 6. Data, technology, and innovation are very important but we can't forget the foundational building blocks that allow people to use these resources, like basic reading, writing, and numerical skills.
