SBA Great Lakes Regional Administrator Geri Sanchez Aglipay congratulates the SBA District Office Small Business Person of the Year (SBPOTY) winners in SBA’s Great Lakes Region 5 for their passion, resilience, and innovation that powers our nation’s economy. SBA Illinois District Office 2024 SBPOTY Winner Jacqueline “Jackie” Jackson is the Owner/President/Operator of Ah Ha Chocolates Fudge and Ice Cream dba Kilwins Chicago. With seven stores in Illinois, Jackie has grown her network from one store in 2012 with 10 employees to creating jobs for over 75 employees. SBA Indiana District Office 2024 SBPOTY Winner Indy native DuJuan A. McCoy bought his first seven TV stations in 2008 with the help of an SBA-backed loan. In 2019, he founded Circle City Broadcasting Entertainment, and bought sister stations WISH-TV and MyWindy23. Currently, Circle City Broadcasting is the only Black-owned media company in a top 25 media broadcasting market. SBA Michigan District Office 2024 SBPOTY Winner Tiffany Klingensmith, President of Unconventional Solutions Inc. (USI), launched her business in September 2002 with her expertise in the protective coating skilled trades as a certified repair and protective paint expert on corrosion, erosion, and chemical attack solutions. Currently, she employs 17 staff across the states of Michigan and Ohio. SBA Minnesota District Office 2024 SBPOTY Winner Micah Eveland, CEO and President of Scamp Trailers took over leadership of the company from his father Kent Eveland in 2022. The Eveland family founded Scamp Trailers in 1971, producing 130 trailers per year. Today, they produce 700 units annually, and manage 74 employees. SBA Columbus District Office 2024 SBPOTY Winner U.S. Army Veteran Ericka Adams opened Adams Dental Assisting Academy after 30-plus years in the dental field. She accessed assistance from the SBA resource partner ECDI - Economic and Community Development Institute in getting her woman-owned business certification, minority-business enterprise certification and veteran-owned certification. SBA Wisconsin District Office 2024 SBPOTY Winner Eric Rupert, chef and the co-founder of @FortuneFavors,’ produces plant-based, non-GMO, gluten-free and vegan nut snacks.
