Hi Connections/Friends :) We often get so busy in our lives that we forget about our friendships, especially those four close friends we rarely talk to anymore. Priorities change, and we wonder if we should reach out, but we get caught up in our current circles. We assume our friends will always be there and that things will be the same when we meet, but this is a mistake. By assuming this, we're creating a big gap. We can take the initiative to reach out, to call or message. It's okay if the other friend hasn't reached out yet - maybe we'll understand their situation better when we do. Loving your parents, cherishing your best buddies, helping those in need, and being a good human being—these things are far more important than just earning money and being busy with work. Today is #familyday Holiday. Did you know? The 1st Canadian province to create Family Day in 1990 was Alberta! Way to go, Alberta! We welcome a day dedicated to uphold the value of family. For some, the word “family” triggers a lump in our throat, ache in our heart and tears in our eyes. A much-loved family member is missing. Whether our special person passed away or is estranged-–refusing to visit or communicate-– Family Day can be tough. Maybe you spent years nurturing and protecting your family and yet it doesn’t look anything like you imagined. What do you do, when there’s nothing you can do to change the heartbreaking reality of your family? Here’s what I’m choosing to do and I encourage you to join me. Let’s double down on celebrating the family members who are physically present.  If you don’t have relations nearby, invite a friend or someone alone to be a part of your family. Not all families are biological. Give the gift of your time. Tell them why they’re so special to you. Do something together to light up their day. We’ll never forget our family members, no longer with us. Love permanently tethers them to our heart. 🤝 Making Friends for International Friendship Day 🤝   When we’re young, making friends is easy, social interactions are less pressured and more fun, but as we get older, making new friends can sometimes feel impossible.   Loneliness is an epidemic of modern life; it’s reported that more than 70% of adults feel lonely often or always. Despite being married or working, many of us can’t shake that feeling of being totally alone.   If you’re someone who struggles to build bridges with strangers or hates making small talk, it’s time to take the leap and make new friends. 👇   📞 Reconnect  We all have that someone, the person you really like and who always made you laugh but for some reason, that connection fizzled out. But what’s stopping you from reconnecting? Pick up the phone, send a text or make a call. You’ve got nothing to lose and a lot to gain.   🆕 Start something new    What have you always wanted to do but have never found the time to do it? Learn a language? Start a course? By putting yourself out of your comfort zone, you’re giving yourself the chance to learn new skills and meet like-minded people.    💌 Volunteer  Whether it’s for a charity or a local school, spending time with people in a volunteer capacity can fill lonely hours and make you feel useful. Giving your time and energy to something new can help break barriers with other people and provide a new lease of life.   🐶 Dog walking    No one said you have to make friends with humans. Sometimes spending time with animals offers a whole lot of love and a few hours out of the house. Websites such as Borrow My Doggy (if you don’t have your own) or joining group dog walks in your area can help you meet new people and pooches.   👣 Go on an adventure    Talking to new people can feel intimidating, but what about if you join a club or organise a trip away?
