"Hold out a portion of leads from nurturing." that's my trick! I will hand over my email and answer a follow up for quality content that enlightens, informs, or makes me better at my job. Marketers got lazy and because some content pieces had 2% conversion rates, the answer became ungate everything.

3wWell said - In most cases I've found that gating content adds friction to what could have been the beginning of a great relationship. I would also add pricing to this list. Having an upfront, and public approach to pricing may cause a rift in the market, especially when considering the data it provides the competition for attack campaigns; but it also provides transparency, and trust to your prospects and current customers.
