Originality and distinctiveness are more important than novelty. In this obsession for newness, one can even be tempted to replace a timeless classic, even if the new one is weaker. If an icon is perfect, respect it, worship it. Use your creativity to find new ways to stage it, show it, celebrate it but do not try to make it better.
