I read in an article that success comes when you start asking yourself the right questions. (...) I asked myself tonight what it means to us, Chic Bijoux, Made in Romania. And I discovered three important pillars: 1. One, #MadeinRomania means to keep going no matter how hard it is (...) and to build day by day because at some point, success is inevitable. 2. The second pillar is part of our mission because we operate in an increasingly digital world, where technology makes our lives easier, and more connected, and our mission is to remain human by offering meaningful, personalized gifts to those we interact with. (...) 3. I discovered the third pillar by attending international trade fairs in the industry, where I saw that most strong companies are generational businesses. We want Chic Bijoux to be such a company. Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, we need to talk… Year after year you have challenged me to be bold, be creative, be effective, be efficient. Immerse myself in the business, build strong agency partnerships, and fuel my strategic thinking. For a long time, I believed that self-improvement was the key to joining the elite conversations at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. After years of learning from industry giants like Peter Field, Mark Ritson Byron Sharp Orlando Wood James Hurman I felt ready to be part of that dialogue. But Cannes, we seriously need to talk. The reality is that attending to the “Athens of marketing and creative effectiveness” remains a distant dream for many of us as the cost of participation is prohibitively expensive. To my fellow marketers who feel the same: I HEAR YOU! We are expected to push the boundaries of creativity and effectiveness, yet we are often left out when it matters most. And to Cannes, you are truly an inspiration for many of us, but when talking about consumer centricity, you need to revisit your business model to give us some entry level. Common, be creative 😊! Until we can meet physically, I will continue to advocate from the distance the spirit of Cannes Lions—effectiveness’s, boldness, creativity—as a state of mind. Lisa Hogg, Lily Darby and I were hosted by Kerrie Finch at the #GlobalMarketingSummit today in Istanbul, Turkiye. We shed some light on our experience “In the Jury Room” at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity for the audience largely made up of CEOs and brand leaders. I had four points to share: 1. Award winning work is selfless, in a way. It offers audiences something of value beyond simply selling them. It offers them a good laugh, or a way to make sense of the world, a feeling of deep relatability, or a thought provoking new way to look at an old problem. 2. Award winning work employs the tools of the trade in such a way that the brand becomes an active and contributing participant in the culture it is trying to impact. 3. Award winning work shows immense respect and reverence for the craft of creativity. 4. Award winning work, on the way to being awarded, triggers a visceral response from everyone who encounters it. It’s undeniable. It enriches you in some way for having come across it.

On Cannes, Part One. I'm not attending Cannes this year (we've won some huge accounts quite recently and have arms full at the moment, in a good way). But I've attended in the past, countless times, and spoken/keynoted on several occasions. Career highlights, for sure. It's an amazing festival of creativity, run and managed by incredibly talented, kind humans (Philip Thomas Paul Kemp-Robertson Steve Latham and many more). Leading up to next week, I aim to post a few tips for ensuring a highly successful week, for those who plan to attend. Tip #1 - make sure you connect with the giants of our industry. They, like you, are there to listen and learn. Don't be shy. They have a treasure trove of knowledge and if you time it just right, they might even be willing to share. Here's just a few of our industry's giants, and a few personal heroes, that I had the pleasure to spend time with during a few stints at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity: Sir John Hegarty (a dear friend and former colleague, and the most brilliant thinker I know) Sir Martin Sorrel (a new introduction. was worth it) Michael Conrad (a former Burnett colleague, genius creative and the finest human alive) David Bell (a friend and colleague, and the most strategic, and decent, person you'll ever meet) SOCIALDEVIANT #connections #creativity #lessons

Susan Magrino & Mary Blanton Ogushwitz's Key Cannes Takeaways, Part 1 💡 After four days on the ground at #CannesLions, we can’t help but have a ton of takeaways and learnings to bring back to our team for exploration and implementation. So, let’s start with three big ones that continued to show up at a macro level throughout the week.    1. BRAND: Brand is everything. We learned that practices change, but principles endure. Build and strive to work with brands that people or your team would miss if they were to disappear. 2. PEOPLE: Investing in employees, trusting your audiences, and building communities - all people-centric concepts - are critical. At a festival where conversations of AI were everywhere, thought leaders went out of their way to stress how important humans are to all aspects and transactions for brands. 3. CREATIVITY: Creative and many creative tactics will be automated…creativity never can be. Continue to seek out and work with people who prioritize the ways in which brands can grow not only through tactics, but through creativity.
