👉 Fact: News reports often provide an incomplete picture of global violence, leaving countless acts unreported and keeping policymakers and the public unaware of ongoing crises. 🌍 💡 This is where Andrew Shaver and his Political Violence Lab at UC Merced come in. 🔬 🤝 Here at RIWI , we're proud to collaborate with PVL in their independent academic validation of our real-time, on-the-ground, anonymous surveys. ✅ This collaboration involved analyzing existing RIWI datasets and collecting new data commissioned by PVL in locations and topics such as: 🇦🇫 Afghan women’s safety during the Taliban takeover. 🇵🇰 Various types of violence in Pakistan, from ethnic clashes to forced disappearances, ahead of the 2024 election. 🇧🇩 Granular data on violence across Bangladesh prior to their 2024 election. 💥 PVL's approach flips the script on traditional data collection. Instead of relying solely on news reports, they validate on-the-ground data from RIWI surveys with local reporters.
