On a recent trip to Toronto, my fellow friend and Foundation board member, John Ruffolo, joined me on a tour of the state-of-the-art Krembil Research Institute, that was led by Dr. Michael Fehlings. It’s here that amazing advances in biomedical research in the protection and regrowth of central nerve after neurotrauma injury take place. Located at the Toronto Western Hospital campus, the Fehlings Lab brings an amazing array of researchers, young and old to tackle some of the major areas of nerve protection and regrowth, replacement of cell tissues, loss nerve tissues and the recovery of function. By combining the collaborative efforts across the neuro trauma fields, we will soon see more discoveries emerge and more clinical trials tested at the hospital sites where clinicians and patients are. This learning will inform the best practices to drive better outcomes in the long accelerating journey in helping return to full function after SCI, brain injury, assault, trauma and disease. Congratulations to John Ruffalo, Dr. Michael Fehlings, their team, all the donors and supporters who continue to invest in talent and initiatives that will drive us into the future.” #toronto #neurotrauma #sci #research
Congratulations to Rick Hansen, John Ruffolo for supporting such important work!!!!
How I wish injury included the missing bit in health care treatment and attention in research - that of arthritic damage inflammatory and not inflammatory. Smaller insights for the very many incredible important and news worthy.
Amazing!!
