Excited and honored to be heading to Germany today on a Widen the Circle Berlin Fellowship. Widen the Circle is an organization committed to promoting historical awareness and understanding as a way to work towards justice in the present. They support community-level memory work in Germany, and they bring together activists and scholars from the U.S. and Germany to learn about Germany's memory culture and to share strategies and ideas for activating local history to fight against prejudice and hate. I'm humbled to be part of such an amazing cohort of fellows this year and look forward to a week of listening, learning, and sharing ideas. https://widenthecircle.org

Kudos to Jennifer Tucker and everyone at the Center for the Study of Guns and Society at Wesleyan University for gathering such a wonderful group of researchers for their second annual conference on the history of guns and society. It was a rich and exciting two days of discussion on the current use of history in firearms laws, the evolution of the technology and lethality of firearms, and the place of guns in American visual culture.
